MSRP: 31,500
Dealer cost NOT including tax and registration: ~30,500
I did finance, no reason to go into the details.
So you got a $1000 discount. I'd say $2000 off on a Sport Hybrid Hatch would be a strong deal.

You are wrong about "no reason to go into the details" of financing with a dealership. Dealerships make boatloads of money off financing.

They could be making thousands of dollars from your financing, depending on what rate/term you got. In other words, you may not have gotten a discount on the car at all. You might actually be paying OVER MSRP.

Are you talking about OTD numbers?
If so, that $32-$34K range is completely meaningless on a nationwide internet forum like this.

The highest tax rate in the country is 9.563%. The lowest is 0.0%.
So depending on where you live, the OTD price could vary as much as $3300 in just sales tax paid.
Rip rest of the world "nation wide forum" 😭

I agree, hence why I said dealers love financing much more than cash, and why I'll pay off the loan after a year max so I'm not paying a ton in interest. My point was that the price was negotiated before any payment options were even discussed.

You started off by saying..."Seeing some of these posts makes me feel like I got ripped off", but then said "I did finance, no reason to go into the details."

My point is that there is no way to determine if you've been "ripped off" unless you factor in the dealer financing.
If you are overpaying on the financing end, you are likely to have gotten a very bad deal.

The same dealer financing that any other official Honda dealer in the US gets I would assume, 3 - 10% APR depending on the person. And they couldn't have possibly known what group I fit into beforehand which is why I didn't factor it in.

It's odd you're unwilling to share the rate/term you got, which is needed to address your concern that you "feel like I got ripped off".

It doesn't matter whether they knew "what group you fit into beforehand". The only thing that matters is they got you into the F&I office, where they can make $$ off of you.

It sounds like you wisely didn't buy any of their high-profit add-ons. But what you did "buy" from them is financing, which could cost you thousands of dollars.

Dealerships get kickbacks from the bank on every loan (usually a % of the loan value). They can also give you an artificially high interest rate, and get the difference from what you actually qualified for.

exactly...

a lot of people don't factor financing into the convo...

look at other threads! "omg I got my SI at MSRP!"

Okay Civic Community, I know that there are a lot of folks, like me, trying to make a purchase and we’re constantly looking to see what everyone else has paid.

Over at the Piloteers thread, we have this thread that is extremely helpful as a one-stop-shop, so that people don’t always have to ask the question over and over again. I’m surprised a thread like this isn’t already going.

Anyway, if you purchased the 2025 Hybrid Civic - please post the trim (sport or sport touring), any other details of add-ons and of course the price you paid for vehicle. Please include:
  • Purchase Price
  • Taxes & Doc Fees
  • Final Out-the-Door Price
  • Where you purchased the vehicle (state)

At the very least, just share the OTD and let’s limit the convo replies. Thanks All!
Hybrid sport touring in boost blue

Purchase Date: Jan 7 2025
Location: IL
MSRP: $34,500
Selling Price: $31,685.72
Addons: $1,170
Doc fee: $367.70
State Tax: $2,294.84
EVR Fee: $35
License & title: $316
OTD: $35,869.26

So your total price for the vehicle was $33,223.42.
A discount of $1,276.58 from MSRP.
I read his total price just as he wrote it. I'm curious about the dealer "add ons". What did you get for your $1,200? The $3K discount from sticker is the same I negotiated in December here in VA. I just did not want, or have to negotiate, any add ons.

I opted for a protection pkg for tires/wheels for $475 ($250 per tire, $400 per wheel benefit, 5 years coverage and can just use it to get new tires before it expires) and a interior/exterior protection plan for $695 (covers paint, leather rips/tears/stains). You can argue I wasted my money, but those were my optional addons. That was done in the F&I office after the price was set so I don't consider as part of the vehicle price I negotiated.

You might not consider those add-ons "as part of the vehicle price you negotiated", but they should definitely be included. Those "protection packages" are pure dealer profit and have little to no value.

"Selling Price" is the total amount you paid the dealership, including all add-ons and doc fees.

State-mandated fees (such as sales tax, title, ect.) and OTD prices are not needed on a nationwide forum like this, because those fees are mandatory/unavoidable and vary wildly depending on where you live.

Thanks for this thread; it was VERY helpful. I wasn't sure what to shoot for before finding this. We had a car crap out on us and needed to buy quickly.

2025 Civic Hybrid Sedan with Sport Touring Trim, negotiated over the phone with NO dealer add-ons:
  • Purchase Price: $31,300 (sticker $33,300)
  • Taxes & Doc Fees: $2,425
  • Final Out-the-Door Price: $33,725
  • Where you purchased the vehicle (state): Texas (DFW area)
P.S. We got lucky: When we arrived to take delivery, we saw that the car was dealer pinstriped & tinted, and had the splash guards, trunk liner, and LoJack installed. Our salesman said they (like most local dealers) usually do this to all Civics before selling, unless it is allocated for a "no extras" sale. The dealership didn't know he had sold it to us so added all the stuff by accident, and he told the shop to just leave it all on there. He's getting 11/10 on the survey! 😃

To clarify: Texas sales tax is 6.25%.
Purchase price: $31,300
Tax: $1956.25
Doc fees: $468.75
Total purchase ("out the door" price): $33,725
