There is no reason for them to check your ECU if you're getting service done to your head unit. If you're worried flash it back to stock before you go in.

 

This is almost pointless, as the ECU will still indicate it has been changed from stock (there is a timestamp for last flash/update and it won't match the factory date).

If the service techs bother to look, they will see that.

But they shouldn't be if your warranty claim has nothing to do with the powertrain (the head unit, something like the seat belts or the recent recall on the electronic steering, or anything else electrical, like the windows).

 

Flash it back if you ever go in for a warranty. Also, the MM Act on warranties applies if anything goes wrong with the car.

That's a k20? Man I'm sure he threw A LOT more stuff on that. Those are known for craptons of mods.

 

Sorry but I don’t think Toyota charging 20k makes the 9k “not bad”. But if people want to continue modding these weak engines to make a slow car slightly less slow, f around and find out.
