I've never heard of a flush for a manual transmission. It would be a simple drain and fill procedure to the best of my knowledge. Unless you're talking about some type of chemical flush drain fill. Transmission fluid change is usually recommended about 30k for a manual tranny. If it were the CVT or a standard automatic transmission. That's not a splash lubricated system like a manual tranny. You would most likely have to drop the pan to get to the filter to replace it. I would never flush a transmission. I'll explain and illustrate why below. In the transmission pan of an auto tranny. They usually have a magnet and the filter reaches down and sucks fluid off the pan. During a flush procedure they hook up to the cooler lines that are pressurized. They then force fluid through them into the transmission that flushes into the pan. All that Gunk on the magnet or anything on the bottom of the pan gets washed up. In turn that all gets pushed right into the filter clogging it causing the transmission to overheat. Many moons ago when I did transmission upgrades to my truck. I put a deeper pan and a longer filter to compensate. The old pan is on the right the new pan is on the left you can see what I mean. Their respective filters are laying in the pans . Those get pushed up into the valve body to suck up the fluid. You can see the valve body in the second photo below.
If you change to a different brand of fluid for the transmission. It is paramount that you make sure it meets all required spec and approved. The wrong fluid will ruin a transmission faster than anything. It's up to you if you want to change it earlier I don't see it harming anything. A simple drain fill is all that's needed. Unlike the CVT or auto transmissions you also don't have to worry about filter replacement. Interesting thing on the Honda CVT I see many change the fluids. However they neglect to change the filter seems counterproductive. The filter is not in the pan near the valve body it's much easier to change too. It has its own housing on the side of the CVT transmission. It's a messy job and most shops won't be bothered doing it right. Below here is the filter for the CVT tranny the little red can.
As you can see here below they don't even sell a filter for a manual transmission civic. They do have the mount though 🙂 Don't quote me on that it's possible they could have a small inline filter somewhere. All I can see is a transmission mount listed.
Hopefully this helps GL.
