People that experienced the steering rack problem. Was there a beginning stage of it becoming worse? Currently when driving if the car drifts in the lane it takes a nudge to straighten it out. Almost like it’s sticky or it’s stuck in a notch is the best way to describe it.
Yep, thats exactly how mine feels, going to dealer next week. Sticky or notchy is how I describe it.

Yes. My steering rack just got approved for replacement. About two weeks ago I was driving home from a town about 20 minutes away. I felt a subtle stick. Enough for me to think “am I experiencing the steering rack issue?” but not enough to call the dealer right away. The coming days and weeks of me driving it to work, I started to feel it more frequently. Then this weekend I drove out of town and every doubt I had was completely confirmed- I have the sticky steering and my partner recoded a video of me struggling with the wheel at highway speeds in a straight line. Dealer was hesitant to approve since the service tech didn’t feel it, but they approved the steering rack replacement and had the service bulletin 23-037 in hand with my paperwork.

I’ll also mention the service tech suggested turning off road departure mitigation and that it was causing the stick. I drove with those features on for nearly 15k miles and my wheel never stuck like it has recently. It’s also not related to lane keeping because the wheel gets stuck even when off-center in the lane. I’ve had to nudge it out of the “notch” to get back to the center of my lane.

What also pushed me to make my appointment was driving my mom’s 2017 HR-V. That steering wheel felt like butter in comparison to what I’ve been dealing with lol.

I hope your appointment goes well. Hopefully they don’t give you a hard time.

I had the same thought, and just like you I drove my wife’s hrv and that pretty much that made up my mind something wasn’t right. Did you show them the video as well

Nah, I didn’t show the video since the service advisor went for a drive with me immediately after I got back into town, so he felt it first hand. The service tech that didn’t feel it drove it the next day and I’m guessing he only went for a very short drive on the highway. In some way I feel it’s temperature or frequency related since I feel it most as I drive it more throughout the day.

I agree. Luckily the dealership is an hour away so it should be acting funky by the time I get there. Thanks for confirming my issue.

I only have 3,200 mile so far & I started feeling this in the past few days. At first I didn’t think much about it because it wasn’t happening a lot & thought it might have something to do with the lane departure. I’m going to turn it off & see if that helps. I’m glad I saw this thread because I knew something wasn’t feeling right & thought about calling the dealer but it is hard to explain the feeling in the wheel.

Yeah if it keeps happening you’re definitely not imagining it. It’s doing it now much more often and super sticky at times.

I've noticed mine doing that for quite a while now. Right now I am at 32k miles and I wasn't sure if it was just in my head or not. Before I tried to look for solutions but found nothing. Glad I'm not the only one experiencing this.

I actually just learned there is an ongoing investigation on this same problem. Apparently hundreds of 22-23 Civics are all having this exact same problem.

Read on a Facebook forum that some users have received recall notices...this is in the U.S.

I knew about it before hand but figured it was just a small group experiencing it and fingers crossed I wouldn’t be in that group. Wishful thinking lol
