Yes, for cover, that’s why we angle the patrol car too when exiting it. All of these things things are for safety. The same as how the officer will touch the back of the car to place a fingerprint as evidence that he was on the scene.

Lol for what it's worth, in the past if I was pulled over, the car was shut off, the overhead dome light went on, the windows were rolled down, my hands stayed on the steering wheel and I announced to the officer what hand was moving where and why before I moved it. Worked well in the past, so that's still the plan

I like to jump out of the car, hand extended with my license and registration, and run towards him/her because I know they're busy and I don't want to take up too much of their time.

I was in the military police, I’ve never been a civilian police officer although I do have some in my family.

A “narc” refers to a narcotics officer, I don’t think that applies here and remember kids only dopes do dope.

Well, I noticed that on my Civic it does in fact look like a “1” and I checked my HR-V and it looks more like an “I”. So, I’ve seen ASI for decades and am not sure what this AS1 is about.
