Here's a good write up on the difference between the k20c1 the Type R engine and the k20c2 the down tuned version minus all the turbo stuff. Full diagrams included I found it a pretty interesting read.

That's a really good guide on what you'd need to swap on the c2.

Mr. Heartland coming in clutch with great reading material for the pooper!

I'm in the crapper reading that right now. Lord God baby Jesus help me 🙏 I shouldn't have drank all that beer last night 😅🤣. Oh my eyes this stuff's got to be at least 100 octane. That boss out there of mine is singing me a lullaby. g2g

Full circuit Motorsports boosted a 10th gen K20C2. Anybody thinking about doing that I'm sure they could offer some advice. I found quite a bit of information on the 10th gen forums about C2 boosting. Most of it from back in 2019 pretty cool to see what these guys are doing. To the best of my knowledge they're still port injected not direct. Direct injection for the fuel isn't a requirement for a turbo. I'm sure most of them are running an aftermarket ECU also. Pretty much a necessity as the stock one is incapable of being used in a boosted application.

Here's a link to the manifold you'll need if you want to turbo a C2. They also offer a tuner standalone ECU but you do have other options.

Here's the full circuit Motorsports boosted k20c2.

Here's somebody else running a boosted k20c2 I found on YouTube

It's all very interesting you'd be surprised what you can do if you set your mind to it. From a cost point of view though I would just get a C1 engine. Purely because it's already all set up. If you can find one in good shape. Putting a turbo on a C2 is basically building a C1 well kinda. I like the C2 the way it is it screams reliability and longevity far beyond even the C1. Putting a turbo on it is going to make it less reliable. It's like adding a turbo to any engine. At that point you're willing to sacrifice some reliability / longevity though for speed. You also want to keep in mind the compression ratio for the C1 and C2 are different. The C2 actually has a higher compression ratio. Then there's the obvious C1 is direct injected C2 isn't. I myself am not a fan of direct injection. In fact I try to avoid it it has its advantages in a turbo application but not necessary. Though Honda does do it well in the type R engines. The C1 only has I-VTec on the exhaust side the C2 has I-VTec on both intake and exhaust.

I'll admit a C2 would be pretty interesting with I-VTec on intake and exhaust. That opens up some new possibilities for sure with tuning and turbos. I'd leave it port injected it'll still scream. Then you also have the higher compression ratio could definitely do something with that. Run lower boost for example. While putting out the same type of power as someone running much higher boost lvls. It would probably be wise to use some high test gas depending how far you push the pounds per square inch of boost.
so bit of an update on this guy, despite being the most gate-keepy person on the planet, he claims the car still runs fine and has been since 2017. Here's a funny little interaction I had with him on YouTube (keeps deleting my comments).

Oh man that is quite the interaction. You got the most messed up name I've ever seen on YouTube.😅 I haven't laughed that hard in a while. I highly doubt he'll make that video too. Probably why he keeps deleting the comments.
