Really intrigued with the recent interest in swapping in the K20C4 and K20C1 engine into the 11th gen civic. I was doing a bit of research, and if you put in the accord engine, the 11th gen SI Harness and ECU are compatible. The type R engine not so much, so i looked into the crate engine they sell of the K20C1 that comes with the HPD Controls Package. which is like an extra $3,500 just for ECU and Harness. But it says that this ECU is not tunable. Is this HPD Controls package the OEM ECU on the FL5? Or is this an aftermarket one? How have people been tuning their Type R's? Noob here just trying to understand.

So, instead of getting the HPD Controls package for almost $4,000, you could get the Harness and ECU that is OEM and hypothetically hook it all up, and tune it accordingly?

So then what would be the point of paying for that control package that you CAN'T tune, compared to getting the OEM for much cheaper that you can tune? I feel like im missing something here, again I'm pretty new when it comes to ECU's and tunning and wiring etc. I'm just trying to learn.

I think on the monotune website, you can buy the crate K20C1 with or without the HPD Control package. cant even buy the HPD package seperatly, only if you buy the engine. and it tallies up $2,300 (I thought it was more at first). As for OEM, I can find the OEM Harness and ECU's for around $1,500 all together (used) cant seem to find a new OEM ECU, but a new harness is like 700-800.
