Hitch rack with parking sensors

Just wondering if anyone with a canadian si has experience with a hitch bike rack on their vehicle. Does it mess with the parking sensors with the rack on, even if there are no bikes on it? How's the rear camera visibility with the rack?

Any other concerns that would make you want to go for a roof rack instead?

Thanks.

The Si doesn't have any traditional parking sensors anyway, right? It only has the stuff for rear cross traffic alert and I could never figure out where the sensors for those are. There doesn't seem to be any wiring inside the rear corners of the car either.

One of the few downsides. I hate 6 months of cold and salty roads.

Canadian Si has: shift lights on instrument cluster. Full digital instrument cluster. Parking sensors front and rear, mirror turn indicators, heated steering wheel, heated front seats, heated rear outboard seats, dual mode climate control, wireless charger. I think that's about it.

US model has: Summer Tire option for $200 Eagle F1, Aegean Blue colour.

In the US, the Si is based off Civic Sport while in Canada, it's marketed as a performance top trim of the Touring trim.

Not only does my hitch rack trip up my parking sensors, it also trips up the emergency braking so every time i have the rack on if i dont disable emergency braking (it can't be permanently disabled), it will slam the brakes if I try to back into or out of a spot, doesn't matter if I have the bike on there or if its just an empty rack folded closed. I use a 1UP USA rack which is one of the most compact racks on the market. Visibility without a bike is fine, visibility with a bike sucks, but that's what you get having the bike right in front of the camera. I've just started removing the rack when I'm not needing to haul my Mountain Bike around because the braking issue is really really annoying. Turning off the parking sensors is an easy one click deal, but the braking requires navigating a few menus and would just be a chore to do every time I drive. This can be annoying depending your living arrangements if you don't have anywhere to store your rack between use

Have you tried what is mentioned in the manual at the link I posted above? It seems different than just pressing the button to turn off the sensors.

I don't have a rack yet so I'd appreciate if you could try and let me know. I really want a hitch rack to be viable, but if there are too many problems I suppose I'll have to settle for the roof rack. I would be using it nearly every day in the warm months so taking it off after each use is not realistic.

Pics of my Draw-Tite hitch with a Swagman bike carrier attached. Notice that there are no straps or ties needed.
Visibility is fine.

I got the hitch installed last weekend at my local u-haul as I did not want to risk messing up cutting the bumper myself. They did a great job with it. It's the same draw-tite hitch Cleanneon mentioned. Total cost was about $380 CAD, the hitch itself was $200.

Picked up this swagman rack used for $20 while I wait for the Kuat one I want to come off back order.

Followed the instructions in the manual to disable the parking sensors and have not ran into any issues with them. Visibility out the camera is not too bad even with a bike on the rack.

Glad it all worked out. Just remember that arm you have holding the frame is supposed to go over the front wheel. You should be ok with the alum frame but I wouldn’t want to clamp down to carbon that way
