Car shuts off after 10 minutes in park after I drive (not using remote start)

I would like to clarify again that I am not using the remote start feature because I know that is supposed to shut off after ten minutes. It’s like after I’ve pushed brake and engine start button and been driving and then park, if I’m in park for 10-20 min (not sure exact time) the entire car engine and computers shut off. I’ve only had this car for four days. And I’m the only owner. It is a new 2022 Honda Civic touring. It’s at service now and it doesn’t appear to be a setting that I can change.

Does anyone read the fucking manual anymore, or just post every idea about what they think is a problem that enters their heads with no self-reliant investigation into same?

I am amazed that some individuals are able to exist in daily life, hold a job, make decisions, inhale and exhale, etc. JFC.

Not specifically directed at OP, this is a trend on this site.

Right there with you bud. In this day and age there is a wealth of information available at your fingertips. A simple Google search or checking the manufacturers website can lead you to all the answers you need. Hell I'm still waiting for my Civic to arrive and out of excitement I've read through the manual a few times and am familiar with how most everything operates now.

I agree........

I see multiples posting similar regarding auto on/off and shutting off here..
I think it started with them skipping on reading the book and/or letting the salesperson explain the full features of the car.
These cars today are not the same as past GEN.
Maybe this is not a car for them if it bothers them that much..
Just like a PC -> user error.

I know people were dying of CO because they would leave cars idling in their attached garages at their homes. People have been forgetting to shut down their cars like they normally would in the old days when they had actual car keys in the ignition. Quiet running cars with fob systems have proven dangerous for some people and some conditions.

I know car makers have come up with ways to help prevent this by shutting down idling cars (not idle stop). is that what is happening here ? Do our Hondas do this. I've had my car for about 4 weeks but I haven't gone through the 750 pages of manual completely. I do tend to idle a bit, but not more than a few minutes so it has never happened to me.

I've got a ton of bourbon that I picked up during my travels to Kentucky distilleries that I haven't touched. I really need to sit down and read my manual and maybe crack open a bottle :) .

See my post quoting the (electronic format) manual on p. 1 of this thread

Y'all gotta remember there's lots of "feelings" with the younger crowds. Apparently words "hurt" people nowadays. Everything has to be handed to them or they throw fits. All of a sudden everyone has anxiety and depression......what happened to the good ol days we just beat each other up,got up shook on it walked away then ended up being best friends? World is full of waawaa that if they don't get it their way they bitch and get emotional. Anyways......forums ARE to help each other out. But sometimes being lazy doesn't give you the go and collect option. That's the problem with people nowadays, you'd think you just spent 20-30-50k on a car you'd want to at least LOOK in the table of contents or index and you just might see what you needed all along without having to read the entire manual. Like seriously 😆half the posts on here are because people didn't bother to go walk to their car and open the glovebox and read the manual. Then they get offended because someone told them to read the manual And all of a sudden ITS OUR FAULT for telling them to go look in the manual 💀🤣

Awwwwww come on guys don't let it bother you that much lol

People join car sites to be able to ask whatever they want no matter how trivial their questions might be to some of us :)

I had a older guy ask me where does the washier fluid go because they had never put any in a car before. People are just have different levels of knowledge and experience.

To an extent I understand this. I'm not expecting people to know how to rebuild an engine (I don't!).

But to ask a series of questions about something "wrong" with the car and then take the car to the dealer for this "problem" without reading the manual to understand that it's normal is just mind boggling to me.

I get that the manual is 700 pages, but this is also a huge financial investment worth understanding and protecting. Sit down with a glass of bourbon and read the thing... Hell, if you skip the lawyer gobbledygook it's only like 390 pages and you can effectively read/skim those in a few hours.

I guess I owe OP an apology because the info I posted is in the digital download manual... but after looking, I'll be damned if I can find it in my print manual. So, it is possible that the print manual was completely reviewed by OP and no mention of this was found, which would tend to make one think it was a problem.

I'm not sure why there are differences between the electronic and print versions but there apparently are.

I noticed the owner manual that comes with the car really doesn't go in depth on a lot of functions. the digital one seems to have been revised.

I do not read her post that way. Appears she is stating that upon parking and idling, after x amount of time, the car turns off - as it should.

It seem to have some kind of safety feature programed that is making it shut down.
I know this is not that same but in my car once the auto stop is engaged and someone open any door while the car idle is off, it is off for good and the start button will need to be pressed to restart the engine. all this when I had no intentions of turning it off in the first place. (as noted in pg 454)

It has happened to me twice now.
I was never made aware but assuming if I have auto start off this would not happen? ( will be testing it further so I can understand it better the do's and don'ts)
Like @MeefZah said take the time to read my manual booklet...

Hope that all made sense
Side note: my car is manual if that matters..

Solution: Dilute the pump with fuel cleaner once you do that it will stop happening for a few months but first time you put it in the car will shut down five times. It might occur again in two months but put in more cleaner. Right now my car has stopped shutting down for a few months have my finger crossed.

Air hug your not alone.

Its a chemical in the pump causing the shutdown. The part shortage made them use faulty parts it all happened before it happens again.

Honda and Acura have recalled 2019 and 2020 vehicles including the CR-V and Accord for fuel pumps which can malfunction and cause the engine to lose power. Honda and Acura are recalling 628,124 vehicles for malfunctioning fuel pumps which can lead to a vehicle losing power.Mar 31, 2021

I had an 2022 LX traded it in for the sports model with same issue Honda cannot replicate issue blamed me for plugging a charging adapter to charge port. I formally filed NHTSA complaint and BBB I was the only person with the issue, so the dealership blamed me and ignored my conclusion. They still blame me and will not resolve or investigate issue.
