On my audi tt there is a secondary coolant pump that runs after the engine is off. I haven't noticed that on my 22 civic, but I suspect the same feature is there.

Agreed. A few weeks ago I heard what I thought was boiling water a minute or two after I turned off my engine. What did I not hear? The secondary coolant pump. Now that it's replaced, no more boiling coolant, and happier turbo.
