Hello,

New to the forum, thought I give it a try.... let me know if this has been sloved somewhere else.

I have a new 2024 Honda Civic... what nice because it is a new car but still feels very cheap in someways... anyways...

The auto idle stop is a pain in the ***, but I have found ways arounds for it. When disabling or enabling the auto idle stop, there is a message on the instrument pannel that says something like "Hold the idle stop button to disable or enable the status message". This would just prevent the message showing on the instrument pannel when enableing or disabling the auto idle stop "feature" (I like how its such a feature...NOT), and only show the little icon. When I disable the "status" message, it dose not seem to respect my preference... no matter what I do, the status message allways shows. It seemed to be working before, but now it just dosen't care. I have tried it when the car is in park... doesn't care, while im driving... doesn't care. This is a niche issue, but it is drving me crazy. In the manual (page 474) it clearly indicates that this should be a thing... but again it just doesn't care. I like the look of the car but feel as if I got swindled into buying a halfed baked product.

Does anyone have any insight on this issue to what could be done to make the status message stay disable?

Thanks and sorry for any spelling mistakes.

PS (not related to the problem above, but a rant)... anyone notice you can't scroll though you music libaray (CarPlay) with the secondary knob on the raido headunit? Acts only for skipping songs, even though there is a forrward or backwards button already on the steering wheel and the radio head unit. Pretty dissapointed with the electronics in this car. And to rant a bit more...you can't quickly scroll though the differnt "status" screens to see Range/Fuel, Tirp ect... you must use the "Home" button first, then look though all the different options first. And last one.. why does the raido shut off when I turn off the car and not when I open the door. Seems like that could of been an option that the user could choose to have this on or off. For **** sakes, it just software, personally, the Hyundai Elentra seems like the better deal with all the customization you can do, and for less money.. kinda wishing I went with the Hyundai.

There is no way to disable idle stop permanently and to completely get rid of the pop ups. It’s always funny when people get so passionate about this feature. Go get the Elantra it’ll be much more customizable until the turd bucket under the hood gives out or you have your warranty claims rejected or someone steals it with a USB drive

Yeah, that's correct, there is no stock way to permanently turn off the auto idle shut off. I bought the car knowing that. But what Im fussed about is that it says (and it worked for me before) that it can suppress the message when using the auto idle button. It seems like when I "disable" the status message, it will just revert back to "enable".

And for the Elantra, I think you are right as well... the longevity of the Honda seems to be more reliable.

Kinda funny, saw the license plate cover last night and the slogan for Honda is "Build without compromise". I feel like they did compromise some of the stuff in this car. Don't get me wrong, I love the look of the car, just kinda pissed that the electronics are already failing. (only been a few weeks with the car).

I don’t think the setting works as you think it does. Disabled means it will pop up to show you that idle stop did not engage but won’t tell you why. Enabled means it will pop up AND show you why. What other eletronicS are failing?

Oh.. you may be right, but should it not say “disable” when checking to see if it is disable or not… it just always says “enable”. And in the manual… it kinda seems like it is pointing towards what I am describing, plus I’m pretty sure it was working as I was describing before, but now it just doesn’t seem to work.

Checked it again, and you may be right, but I swore the other day it was working the way I discribed it lol, but maybe not.

You really believe you should of bought a Hyundai over a Honda ?????? Really that's usually the other way around ask any Hyundai owners with 150K miles on their cars oh wait wait there are none because your lucky to get 60K miles out of a Hyundai .....anyways there is my rant. I love ALL THE SAFETY AND ELECTRONICS FEAUTURES ON MY CIVIC. Did you not do any Research before you bought the car ? SMH 🙄

Just get one of these and be happy. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09XJTHV8...w_as-reorder_k0_1_21&amp=&crid=31D5759U8U5ZW&sprefix=idle+stopper+v2+civic&th=1

This device will disable it for good and you don't need to splice any wiring. Easy and quick install.
I put mine on the first month I bought the car and it works great. Easy to install and well worth what it costs.

I agree about the radio not staying on until the door is opened or after a couple of minutes if you don’t get out & the engine is off. As for the idle stop device that permanently keeps it off could that not potentially void warranty?

Disregard my comment about the warranty I should have checked your link out first lol I read at the bottom of their page it would not void the warranty but the dealer could refuse to pay for those specific parts

It is so quick and easy to install and remove it you can literally take it out while you wait for the tow truck. If I recall correctly, you don't even need tools.

Just remove the start/stop device before you go in for any warranty servicing. You don't have to be honest with your dealer since they are rarely honest with you as a customer. They are called Stealerships for a reason.

At first I was annoyed to have to press a button to disable the auto start/stop but I've done it enough times it's become second nature after I press the Engine Start button.

I made a slight modification to my Idle Stopper. I put a switch on the 12V lead and hid it in the center console. I can turn off the power to the Idle Stopper with that switch and it disables it until I turn the power back on. I do this when I take the car in for service. That way the dealer doesn't know that I have this device installed.

Until they open the center console and notice the switch...
