Yes. My steering rack just got approved for replacement. About two weeks ago I was driving home from a town about 20 minutes away. I felt a subtle stick. Enough for me to think “am I experiencing the steering rack issue?” but not enough to call the dealer right away. The coming days and weeks of me driving it to work, I started to feel it more frequently. Then this weekend I drove out of town and every doubt I had was completely confirmed- I have the sticky steering and my partner recoded a video of me struggling with the wheel at highway speeds in a straight line. Dealer was hesitant to approve since the service tech didn’t feel it, but they approved the steering rack replacement and had the service bulletin 23-037 in hand with my paperwork.
I’ll also mention the service tech suggested turning off road departure mitigation and that it was causing the stick. I drove with those features on for nearly 15k miles and my wheel never stuck like it has recently. It’s also not related to lane keeping because the wheel gets stuck even when off-center in the lane. I’ve had to nudge it out of the “notch” to get back to the center of my lane.
What also pushed me to make my appointment was driving my mom’s 2017 HR-V. That steering wheel felt like butter in comparison to what I’ve been dealing with lol.
I hope your appointment goes well. Hopefully they don’t give you a hard time.
