WHEN I WROTE this my Civic was hours old. The CIVIC model that I TEST drove had the same issue. So I assumed my own new car had it as well. After owning mine I see that a fix has apparently been made and my wireless charger is working now on my same phone. So it was never an issue on this new CIVIC after all. It is still an issue on my Acura but it seems Honda is on the ball. Perhaps only earliest models were affected.
It is still an issue on some civics as my Touring does the same thing and I bought mine the day it came in on the truck so it should be a later production model.

I am having issues with the 12 pro as well. It starts to charge and then stops. If I put a smaller I phone there it works just fine.

So Honda is probably going to have to fix my car then if others are reporting they don’t have the issue done on recent cars

Have the 12Pro - no issues.
No issues? thats odd. I can confirm that the built in charging pad does NOT work with the iPhone 12 Pro (2022 civic touring + IPhone 12 Pro). Purchased yesterday. My phone with or without the MagSafe case not charge after the first 15-30 seconds on the civic’s built in charging mat. I called the dealership, they were of course unaware of the issue. I’m somewhat taken aback that apple and honda did not foresee this issue in a care with wireless apple play built in… i mean, did nobody set the new phones down on the charging pad during development?

It’s only the newest phones with MagSafe that has issues. The charger sees it as a metal obstruction that will cause overheating. I have successfully charged my 12 max pro from half to full charge many times. I have to wriggle it sometimes but it works. Maybe the sequence of the vin number delineates where a fix was made mid production…. Who knows. I sold my 2022 MDX , the one that would not charge at all for same reason ….

Welcome to the forum @Hondacm450e! Have you tried other phones to see if they work on your Civic?

My car charges my iPhone Xs with no issue for shorter drives. After a certain duration, it kicks on the thermal safety and starts blinking green and yellow, but the phone is warm to touch, so it's expected.

It being MagSafe isn’t an excuse as the iPhone 12 line is still Qi-certified. This sounds a lot more like Honda went with a non-certified charging solution and it is now biting them in the ass.

No fix has been made mid-cycle. Not yet anyway.

Hello,

Is anybody else experiencing wireless charging issues on the new Touring model? I have an iPhone 12, that I wireless charge fine on all of my other chargers with the case I have. I have even removed the case, and I can't seem to keep the charging connection going in the car. It links and starts charges when I first lay it down most of the time, but it disconnects shortly after. I will most likely have to call for service, but I've only had it 4 days.

Please let me know your experience. Thanks

Hi there, I have had the same problem with my iPhone 12 in the 2022 Civic Touring. It is driving me crazy!!! Did you find a resolution? [email protected]
Please email me, any help would be great!

Nope, no solution yet and recently I had a problem getting my phone to work wirelessly on AirPlay and few days later it just started working again. It is frustrating and I hope they can find a fix for it.

Yes , father and laws iPhone 11 charges fine. Seems to be iPhone12 pro and iPhone 12 mini specific.

As stated above. I believe Honda went with a non mi-certified Charger which is terrible. My MagSafe iPhone 12 charges onall my other mi certified non MagSafe chargers.

There is a fix in the Volvo updates page in April of 2021 for the same issue. So perhaps there is a software update solution. However, when I asked on the Honda specialist via the owner website support she said it was a “know issue and there is currently no known fix” she went as far as to say that there may not be one until the next gen of the car or phone.

That’s crazy we should be compensated for it then like that’s one of the reasons why I got a touring.
