Which Honda Civic models usually come with VTEC? I'm after the increase in fuel economy and performance it offers and want to know how vtec is packaged. I'm a bit new to this end of Honda and will greatly appreciate anything that knowledgeable members here can share. Thanks!

I think every single one. Maybe whatever models used hybrid tech in the past with an atkinson cycle may not have.

I think the NSX started it all... or was it the Integra GR-S.

Interesting.
I had a 1998 Honda Civic LX years ago that I found out didn't have VTEC. Didn't matter much to me. Knew nothing about Hondas and just wanted a commuter car. From what I could tell, the beefier B-Series (and D-Series) engines at the time had VTEC, DOHC and some others that put them in a different league. So I always understood it as an upgrade.
