Hi, I bought my car second-hand a month ago.

When I turn the steering wheel as in the video, there is a noise.
There is no noise when I start the car in the morning, but after driving for a while it becomes noticeable.

The steering rack had been replaced under warranty before. What could be the cause?

Has anyone experienced a similar issue?

By the way, I own a 2021 Honda Civic Sedan (November). and about 25K miles.

Honda tech here. This is a fairly common issue, unfortunately, on several late model Hondas.

What's happening is there's a lil black plastic nub (it's part of ur clock spring) wrapped in a too-thin layer of foam tape, that sits within a small hole in ur steering wheel, & over time this foam tape gets worn away til the plastic nub itself starts rubbing on the hole, causing the noise.

The current fix (until Honda hopefully releases a better remedy) is to remove ur steering wheel entirely & wrap the lil circled nub in several layers of foam tape. That should fix it for a while.

Lots of vids on how to safely remove steering wheel out there. I'll simply advise that when u remove the steering wheel bolt, u make 4 marks (N, S, E, W) going from the wheel onto the steering shaft splines, so that way u have 4 alignment marks to perfectly align back ur steering wheel the way it was before u removed it.

Lemme know how it works for ya. Also make darn sure u try to keep ur clock spring from making full 360 degree turns while messing about in there; try to keep the electrical connector at the top of it facing north, or else u risk damaging it! Cheers!

Thank you sir; If that’s the case, I’ll ask the authorized service for a temporary fix. My car is still under warranty
I also heard it might be from the clock spring. Again Thanks a lot.
