Savagegeese released a new video today where they compare the new WRX with the Civici Si, Elantra N and GTI.
We see very eye to eye on this. Exactly my experience and my use for this car in the stable. Still on my Gen 9 Si until cars become available. It is interesting how they each picked a different car and as their favorite. Jack picked the Si and I completely agree with him as to why. I've had my '22 Si for six months and I am more than completely happy with it. I bought it for the reasons Jack explained. It is not a car you buy to go fast in a straight line, nor is it going to be the fastest car on your block. But- it is the 'do everything well with no fuss' car and if you play around with it, it can seriously embarass other 'fast' cars in regular street driving. By that I mean, get this car a low speeds in the right gear and you can squirt in and out of traffic safely and quickly. It is a sneaky quick car in that regard. It is light and with the new torque band, it is so easy to drive in low speed conditions.
I just came out driving a 505 HP Alfa Romeo Quadrifoglio for two years and that would annaliate most cars for speed and agility, but it was not as fun to drive on the street. That car needed to be out in the country on a back road or on a track to have any fun. As a daily, I never really had fun driving it because you had to be careful on the throttle or you would be going insane speeds in a few seconds and constantly holding the car back from what it wanted to do. That was more work than fun. So if you want a fast car buy a faster car for the weekends and keep the Si for your fun daily. You will never have a better all around daily.
