Maintenance Minder "B" - How to inspect at home?

Hey everyone!

Just got the B maintenance minder on my Civic. 42K miles on it. The dealership website pricing is $300 to literally just "inspect" the car and do the scheduled oil change. I am in no way paying them to take a flashlight and look over the car. I saw the list online of things that need inspected on the car, but wanted to know if anyone has a comprehensive guide on what to look for/warning signs that something could be wrong. I don't want to pay $300, but also don't want to overlook a potential issue on my car by skipping an inspection.

I had an alignment done at 40K miles and they said my brakes are tires are in great shape, so I know at least those are good. :)
Are you on factory tires still? My contipros were toasted by 34k miles, maybe I get on the gas too much 😆

I know that now after I went and got the alignment and noticed 1% difference. :(
My factory tires were wearing pretty unevenly on the front so I had an alignment done soon after getting new tires. I was surprised to see very little difference before and after. It was even in spec before alignment. But the shop that did the alignment said a fraction off can make a difference in wear over time. But either was dealership alignments are always overpriced, $80 at an independent shop or $200ish for lifetime alignments at Firestone if you have one close. Still can’t believe Firestone offers that lol
