Just installed the HPD spoiler about 5 months after I purchased the car as it was backordered! Once you can get over the drilling into your Civic, it went well! A few notes from the experiance.
Price: Purchased from OEMpartsource.com for $277. Honda was quoting me between $430-480 part only. For labor, I was quoted between $300-460. Well over what it would have cost installed at purchase!
Tools: Ordered a Rivet nut tool from Amazon that worked quite well (slightly different than the Honda prescribed one. Just one didn't set right the first time and I had to tighten the mandrel piece and try again, worked great! (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MMBHSMX?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details). Other than that I had some wrenches, a drill with a 35mm hole cutter, and some tape. Basic tools, nothing crazy.
Time: Took maybe 2-3 hours total including the prep and masking and cleaning up debris.
Instructions: college hills Honda has both the installation instructions and a video of them doing it! Super helpful!
Issues: The only issue I had is when you have to install the Foam lined O-ring. The space in between the frame and the skin of the vehicle is super tight. And then you have some leftover plastic it was nearly impossible to get those O-rings in. I instead used some silicone sealant to seal things up rather than spend hours trying to get those to fit. Saw that from another forum post!
Trust the template! it will get you there! That was the biggest sigh of relief when I drilled my first hole and the hole on the frame was underneath. No issues with alignment, even if you are off a little the hole is big enough to get you there. Totally recommend doing this yourself if you have some time. It was worth the $500 in savings by having Honda do it (unless you get it installed way cheaper at purchase)
Looking forward to my REMARK exhaust coming near the end of the month!
