Just installed the HPD spoiler about 5 months after I purchased the car as it was backordered! Once you can get over the drilling into your Civic, it went well! A few notes from the experiance.

Price: Purchased from OEMpartsource.com for $277. Honda was quoting me between $430-480 part only. For labor, I was quoted between $300-460. Well over what it would have cost installed at purchase!

Tools: Ordered a Rivet nut tool from Amazon that worked quite well (slightly different than the Honda prescribed one. Just one didn't set right the first time and I had to tighten the mandrel piece and try again, worked great! (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MMBHSMX?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details). Other than that I had some wrenches, a drill with a 35mm hole cutter, and some tape. Basic tools, nothing crazy.

Time: Took maybe 2-3 hours total including the prep and masking and cleaning up debris.

Instructions: college hills Honda has both the installation instructions and a video of them doing it! Super helpful!

Issues: The only issue I had is when you have to install the Foam lined O-ring. The space in between the frame and the skin of the vehicle is super tight. And then you have some leftover plastic it was nearly impossible to get those O-rings in. I instead used some silicone sealant to seal things up rather than spend hours trying to get those to fit. Saw that from another forum post!

Trust the template! it will get you there! That was the biggest sigh of relief when I drilled my first hole and the hole on the frame was underneath. No issues with alignment, even if you are off a little the hole is big enough to get you there. Totally recommend doing this yourself if you have some time. It was worth the $500 in savings by having Honda do it (unless you get it installed way cheaper at purchase)

Looking forward to my REMARK exhaust coming near the end of the month!

Great to hear! Mine just arrived today after waiting 4 months. Will be doing it myself also. I've seen other people document the process, so I'm not too scared about it. Glad to see more people diy it.

Wow, that's an expensive install. I'm not sure how things work in the U.S. but the MSRP for the accessories always includes the install. I think the full HPD skirt kit for the Si was $1550 CAD or $1190 Freedom dollars, installed at the dealer I purchased it from. The service rep didn't realize I had bought it from there but it was back ordered and the original quote came to $380 or something for 3 hours of labour.

Looks great, I really like the HPD spoiler on the Hatchback

Got my wing in the other day and did the install yesterday. MUST HAVES : Rivet Nut Setter , I got mine at Harbor Freight .. Harbor Freight Tools – Quality Tools at Discount Prices Since 1977 . Hole saw 35mm = 1 3/8th 1/8th cutting DP, Got mine at McMasters-Carr.. McMaster-Carr ..you will need hole saw # 3789A23 and the arbor # 3789A61 cut is perfect ! This spoiler uses a lot of 3M tape on the parts so besides the alcohol wipes that comes it the kit , I used a spray bottle of Isopropyl Alcohol and a Microfiber towel,Get a bottle of 3MAdhesion Promoter # 4298UV ... Robot or human? .. This WILL make things Stick ! I would not trust just using the Alcohol . Read the Instructions carefully .. https://www.civicxi.com/forum/attachments/tailgatespoiler-pdf.223969/ and watch the video ..
.
Tips : As stated above trust the template It will get you there ! Study the video AND instructions as you go is very helpful and a must . And heating up a push pin as in the video to get your drill points works great !
The foam O-Ring washers , watch the video carefully there are tight spots on the lower part of the hole you drilled and more open area at the top..start installing at the top with the larger gap stuffing the Foam in {Video Really helps here} with a small blade screw driver and work around from top to bottom , It can be done just take your time . I got all six set in 20min.
Pre-fit everything that has the 3m tape being sure it's in the right place once your happy with that outline the part with painters tape, this will give you the sections you need to apply the Adhesion Promoter { for the applicator I used a small glasses cleaning cloth } . DO NOT get this stuff any where else but where the 3m tape goes this stuff does dull the paint and will give you a super bond ! Once fitted it's on there so be sure you have things in the right place B4 the final fit .
The Rivet nuts ..be sure to crimp them down all the way or once you start the screw into them and they are NOT seated all the way the rivet nut will spin on you and getting the screw back out is tough. Once you set one look to make sure that the threads to the rivet nut are up against the inner part of the metal ..you should only see about 1/8th of a inch from the top of the rivet nut to the threads .
The plastic side covers are a bit tricky so do some test fitting B4 peeling off any of the 3M protection. I found to have the side covers in place with-out removing any of the protective film fitting the wing in place and see how things fit B4 sticking them in place .

Hey guys, anyone ever see this? Looks like the same tool in the Collgehillshonda video. 35mm whole saw with a 6mm drill.

Anyone try to order it? I just purchased the HDP rear spoiler for my 2022 Civic sport HB sonic grey. I already have a 3mm drill bit. looks like this will make it a lot easier. a little bit more then Abe57's mcmaster carr find. And for those that did it by their-self, are the oem jack nut metal like in the video?

Also found this 6mm rivet nut tool on amazon.

I'm getting ready to install an HPD spoiler this weekend. I do have a few questions.
  1. Do I need a specific type of 35 mm hole saw?
  2. What material will I be drilling into (i.e. metal, fiberglass, plastic)?
  3. Which jack nut tool do you recommend?
Thanks!

Hi all, I just received my spoiler wing for my 2022 Civic EX-L hatchback and it does not have the template. Where can I get that template so I can print it out and provide it to my installer? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

I would contact your nearest dealer if you can't find it online. From what I've researched, the template is accurate and is a must have. If you do find a source for the template online, please let me know. I'll be installing one of these spoilers in the next few weeks. Honestly, I'm terrified of drilling into my car.

I'm bringing it to a professional installer tomorrow morning. I'm hoping that, as professional, this will not be his first rodeo and he'll be able to install it.
