How the Civic Type R rear wing is installed
That's pretty interesting. So the ribbed plastic piece sits on the opening for the hatch? If that's the case, it would be far more effective at transferring whatever downforce it produces to the actual chassis instead of flexing the hatch.

Does anyone know how I could possibly install the 2023 type R wing onto my 2022 civic? It looks like the wing can be bought for $800 but no one knows how to actually install it.

Here's an example of installing the HPD spoiler on the Civic to give you an idea.

Curious who quoted the wing at $800? I'd sure like to know .. $1800 to $2k everywhere I've looked. I'd figure out how to mount it .. if they can do it I can do it.

I am pretty sure you are being quoted for the carbon fiber one or the other version which is about $2k. I called in and asked for the OEM wing that comes standard for the 2023 type R should be around $800 give or take since some dealers change the price slightly. The product number they look it up under was 74900t60j01za. Let me know if you are able to get in installed. Good luck!
You may be right ... looking back at the photos in this thread of the installed wing it certainly appears that the wing pictured is not the carbon version. The pricing would certainly make sense between the two. I hope you're correct but am still a little hesitant to try and order one without being certain. As for the mounting, there has to be some installation data available. I found a video of a wing installation/swap on a 10th Gen R and they just removed the plastic interior liner of the hatch which exposed the factory mounting points and hardware. Not required for the HPD wing on our cars but obviously the R wing has hidden fasteners that screw in from under the aluminum towers. Pretty confident it's easily doable. Probably need stronger gas springs as well, like furnished with the HPD wing.

Hey here is the only diagram Honda was able to provide me. It gives some sort of detail on how the wing will screw into the back door. Hopefully this helps!

Interesting ... Looks like there is perhaps a pad or molded recess in the composite skin of the hatch to receive the wing. Did you by any chance get the part list for the diagram? I'd like to know the gas strut P/Ns (8,11). Also the hatch P/N (1). Lets keep digging on this .. way too early to give up.
What we really need is a brave soul with an R that is willing to pull the hatch interior panels, remove the wing, take pics and measurements, and make a template of the hole location. I saw a video of one guy who changed out the wing on a '23 to the carbon but never did anything with the aluminum risers. That would have been a golden opportunity. Anyone up for the challenge?
Found the '23 Type-R parts diagram and list. Surprised it was published on line, just took a little digging. Have all the needed P/Ns now for - wing, lift struts, seals, grommets, and bolts.

I have an OEM spoiler that does not have the mount points attached. I had the carbon fiber option installed in its place so if there rrused or lost who knows . Wondering if it's a part you can get separate from the spoiler, otherwise this can't be used and is hard to sell.

Brand new stock CTR spoiler for sale. Was swapped out for the carbon fiber spoiler at the dealership and is brand new. No mounting hardware was given it's just the wing itself. Local pickup only. MSRP 800 bucks. This is 650 local pickup pm details. I believe this to be the part number...

So did a little investigation yesterday..... I think Honda has made a very overt effort to prevent the OEM R wing from being installed on the stock Hatches. The primary interior plastic panel is not removable like it was on the 10th gen, it is bonded to the exterior skin with the metal stamped frame sandwiched in between. There is a section of the interior that can be removed but it doesn't give access to any of the necessary areas. I can definitely see why the HPD wing install is done entirely from the outside with no internal hardware. I have an idea of how to get into the area without leaving any evidence afterward. Locating the holes is the next trick. An HPD wing template would get me close. Anybody have one left over from their HPD wing install that they would share?
