I just got a Vantrue N4 dashcam system for my 23 sport touring hatch and a hardwire kit to enable parking mode. I’m excited to take it on as a little project and learn more about the wiring.

I need a constant power (battery) fuse and an ACC fuse for the install. So I got a fuse tester to figure out which relays are hot when the engine is off/on. I was looking to use fuse 40 or 41 (20A) for my constant power/battery source since the power seats work with the engine off. However those fuses don’t even light up when the engine is off despite the seats working under than condition. Checked all the fuses and mapped out which ones are active when the engine is off to make sure my voltage tester wasn’t broken. Looking for an explanation on that since I’m brand spanking new to this.

Also if anyone here has experience with similar hardwiring projects like this and can recommend which fuses to use safely for my battery and ACC fuses I’d appreciate that!

Are there are 2 wires? One is for the ACC fuse, and the other is for the constant power.
The ACC only has power when the ignition is on. When the car shuts down, the ACC fuse won't light up.
You can try these fuses and see if it works.

What's the postscript on this thread?

Did 32 and 42 work? I'm installing a Viofo A129 Pro Duo 4K this weekend. Thanks!
I haven’t completed mine yet but mapped out my fuses properly tonight. I had been using a continuity tester, not a circuit tester. So wasn’t getting the expected reading on some fuses.

I confirmed like BlazedSi said that slot 32 lights up with power off (battery) and 42 is active with engine off (ACC) on my model. So those are the ones I’ll be tapping into this weekend since they are currently empty anyhow. I mapped out where I want to feed my wires for a clean look, will try to post pics and update here when I get a successful install!

The Viofo looks a nice rig, let us know how you like it once you have it installed. I like that it has WiFi, that’s the one feature my Vantrue is missing!

Update for you- 42 and 32 worked well for mine! I got it finished today and was able to test parking mode out etc, camera working as expected with these slots. It’s great since these are sharing a slot with any other fuses (in my model at least). I did notice that 32 is hot with the engine on AND off, makes it seem like it could be done off that one alone.

Was able to get a pretty clean install too, the internal part of weather stripping on A pillar feeds right into the fuse boxes. The panel covering hood latch release had a good amount of space behind it to tuck the excess cables and hardwire box out of sight.
