I spotted two 2022 Civics at my local dealership with front license plate frames attached. The attachment points for the frame are in the black grille below the bumper. So no more holes drilled in the bumper like last generation. This is good news. You can see the gold colored attachment screws.

Mine looked like that, but it was screwed into the black plastic.

So there are holes drilled in the plastic? If so, still not as bad as drilling through the body colored bumper.

Just contacted the dealer and asked them to leave the bracket off as I have a few days before it arrives at the dealer.

I asked my Honda salesman to not have the front bumper drilled on my last two Civics (both manual transmission cars I had to order)

Sucks waiting for the car to arrive but gives me time to remember all the stuff I wish I could do when I buy something used and it has holes drilled in the bumper.

Are the holes pre drilled? I am having mine delivered next week, i was wondering if i should ask them not to drill any holes for front license plate. (I live in nj)

They are not pre drilled. I asked them to leave it off mine They just put the bracket in the trunk with the screws in a bag

Did you DO test drive at all? Did you LOOK how front plate is attached to the car? Go watch some youtube videos or find pictures to see how exactly lp is attached...

No I didn't do the test drive because there weren't any available. I was very lucky to get the order in for the upcoming shipment because there are car shortages. So do I ask for my dealer to leave it off and I can easily screw the front license plate bracket myself? Without drilling? I am getting different answers here. I prefer to have mine off, but I am afraid because new jersey cops are assholes.

This is very interesting! The cars I've seen at dealers thus far have the vanity plate (dealer advertisement basically) already installed so I can't see how they mount it but the PDI instructions say the screws included are self tapping, which to me means there's drilling involved? Can anyone without a front plate confirm?

The holes in the black grill are not predrilled. There are small dimples, barely noticeable, to show where the screws should go.

Same here...they didn't have any....but mine comes in on the 10th..which is next shipment

So glad that I don't have to have a front license plate. That bracket was sealed in a bag in the hatch. I removed the screws and put them in the garage and promptly threw the bracket in the recycle bin.

Did they tell you the constricting factor? It being a Sport Touring, it being a manual ST, or it being a manual ST in Boost Blue in particular?

I guess it depends on the town. I haven’t had a front plate on my Envoy for a little over a year and haven’t had an issue.
