Ergonomic shift knobs (6MT) recommendations

Looking for recommendations or specifications on shift knobs that would fit my 11th gen civic hatch touring 6spd manual. I’m looking for a nice leather anatomical/ergonomic one where it fits the hand better than the standard round knob. As an example, I like the shift knobs that come in BMW manuals. I actually am tempted to get one lol, but I’m not sure what thread size/pitch will fit on my civic.

M10 x 1.5 I believe is the correct sizing
The knob from the Si is actually really good and maybe up your alley, it is a decide size and good weight with some leather wrap and metal, I just had a hybrid racing one from previous car so put that in it anyway (it's all metal though so doesn't sound like what you're looking for)

Yes, M10 x 1.5 is the same spec for all Honda/Acura shift knobs

The catch is, the OEM knob on the non-Si Civic has a glued-in plastic ring with tabs to lock into the shift boot, you would have to get like an Acuity kit to modify the shift boot (requiring some disassembly and reinstallation of the console, and using a ziptie)

Or, do as I did and get this part of of eBay that's technically for the 10th Gen Civic -


With this, I can attach the shift boot in my 2022 ST and then screw down any standard Honda shift knob down to it.

Without a lock nut, I've had to add one or two M10 washers to get the knob on the 9th gen Si that I'm using to sit right (so the shift pattern is oriented properly). If you are using a blank knob or something, like a white cue ball or plain silver metal one, you could just screw it down all the way and not worry.

Acuity shift boot collar is really good. The stock plastic collar can be extremely hard to get off and many of us have broke it in the process. I got the insulated Acuity ESCO knob and I am really happy with it.

^Acuity shift boot collar is worth it, lets you spin it around for different neck thickness/settings of shift knobs so you can get a flush look even if your new knob doesn't match the tapering of the OEM

I have a pistol grip shift preference , I don't like shifting ball knobs. I ran the 10th gen CTR Japan knob for a bit and liked it, but it was a knock off and it didn't hold up well and I didn't want to spend $250+ on the real deal.

27won released a nice leather knob recently, that would be my first choice, the only complaint is that it does not have the shift pattern embossed on it, but it is a nice leather knob which I would still run.

I just installed the 27WON shift knob on my Si and love it. It was super easy to install and has a fantastic weight to it. I've never preferred the metal shifters and loved the pistol shifter in my old Integra. The 27WON is a great alternative but I agree with the other posters that they should have some how inscribed the 1-2-3-4-5-6-R pattern albeit for purely aesthetic reasons.

It's not cheap, though - like, 65-70 bucks including shipping, and maybe also getting the "trim removal tools" that are also needed?

I got this a while back, then misplaced the box I put it all in and didn't feel like spending ANOTHER 70 bucks, that's when I went the route of the eBay part and 1-2 M10 washers for like five bucks, LOL.

I got the stainless steel one, to match the plastic-chrome ring on the OEM clip, which was/is about $50 in Dec 2021, plus the trim removal stuff for $12, plus shipping; it came to just under $70 is the way I remember it (over 65, less than 70).

Maybe I'll look harder for where I might have stashed it. I always figured it'd just turn up on its own eventually, but it's been well over a year and it hasn't happened.

Hey, given the timeframe, maybe my wife mistook it for an incoming Xmas present and put it in the designated closet in our attic! (Can't believe I hadn't thought of that until I typed "Dec 2021" as when I ordered it the first time!)

And one more thing I realized - if/when I sell my car, reverting to the stock shift knob would mean disassembly and re-attaching of the old ring, right? Or I'd have to pass along the knob I have on the car.

You could put the old knob back on with the Acuity collar, but if you can manage to get the OEM one off without damage and could swap it back on that's up to you, depends how attached you are to the money spent on the collar lol

That's what I don't see how I could do, except by breaking the little tabs off on the OEM knob that are glued in.
