Hoping for a bidding war between some rich, impatient people, I guess, and maybe he'll get one. I'll like the Type R way better once those people have had their fun being "first" and moved on to the next hot new thing, and supply goes up to bring prices down closer to where they should be for what this car is. For now it's more of a crazily overpriced rich people toy than an actual car, and that makes it less cool.

That's how I see it too. Especially when you can buy two Sis for that money.

I'd also be cautious about buying one used since it was prob ragged on while they owned it.

At that price, he won’t even get the tax and License money back. I predict it won’t sell anyway because the reserve is much higher. At $48.5 that’s less than $4000 over sticker at the old price ! Still very few are going to get one that low even at a dealership. The Majority of cars selling are around $10k a few less than that but not in certain parts of the country. it’s fun watching though! Best

Update: It was only bid up to $49,000 and didn't meet reserve. Probably would have easily been in the 50s with no reserve, but still, this is a great sign that the stupid prices might be starting to come to an end.

Used car prices are going to crash along with the economy. Even in the new car market, I think Elon decided to get a head start to scoop up demand.
