TFL put together an interesting video where they try out traction aids like tire blocks, tire chains, and tire socks to try and make a Civic hatchback as good in the snow as a Grand Cherokee.
- Tire blocks: not bad for getting unstuck but awful at speed.
- Tire chains: Hard to install with lower profile wheels but lots of grip.
- Tire socks: easier to install than chains (2 person job), comparable traction to chains
- Snow tires are still the best option.
