It has two prongs that stick out which insert into holes on the trunk. On top of that they usually have some thin 3M tape on the back just to help hold it on

Check out the “glossy” plastidip. It might change your mind tbh.

Go watch a guide on the application of the paint on youtube, I feel like people that don't like plastidip end up doing it wrong or incorrect. I have never done it but I've watched some stuff on it and you can get a much better finish if you actually know what you are doing with it

My opinion on plastidip is that it's fine for short term applications, up to 6 months. It becomes brittle and is horrible to remove after a winter. That being said, I don't really like the look of the plastic covers I bought on ebay for $15. Don't really feel like spending $80 or whatever on the actual ones from Honda though...

But now you spent 15 already that could have been towards the 80
Imo just do it right for the higher price and be done with it unless you don't plan to keep the vehicle.
The other option is to remove the current badges, paint/plasti dip them, and then clear coat them on top of that to make them more robust
