I love my new SI but this front wheel drive feels a bit squirrely. I am coming from the muscle car era that some of my soft bearded Prius type driving friends may not even know what I'm referring to.
I have put my new SI to the test on the twisties since I requested info on how to turn off the (LKAS), thanks to a board member here I was able to turn it off and keep off the pathetic (LKAS) system off which is actually called the "Road Departure Mitigation System " I have been testing the SI in real life driving conditions like hard braking into turns, hard acceleration and panic stops.
My C5 Corvette is RWD . I am fully aware that the SI is not a vette . I actually think the SI has many advantages to my manual six speed C 5. However the weight distribution front to back is concerning.
The Chevrolet Corvette (C5) has a front-to-rear weight distribution of 49.4% in the front and 50.6% in the rear. This distribution was achieved by moving the transmission from behind the engine to the rear of the car, creating an integrated transaxle assembly. The transaxle is connected to the LS1 engine by a torque tube, which allows for a 50-50% weight distribution. The C5 Corvette also has independent front and rear suspensions, and a rear axle made by Getrag.
2024 Honda Civic SI
The difference in the weight distribution is glaring.
I understand the SI is a 30 something thousand dollar car but you would think that Honda would of invested some of the R&D money in the 2024 SI into weight distribution and some other concerns rather than a useless (LKAS) system that makes the whole FRONT END WOBBLE like a tire is coming off the car it would of been money well worth spent.
