What’s so funny lol. I’m not trying to make a profit but I don’t wanna sell it as a trade in cause I’ll lose a lot of money. ESP cause I’ve only had it for 3 months. I’m not sure im going to take the type S yet. I’m waiting on a type R which I love.

Carvana offered me 31k for my 10,000 mile hatch when I did the online thing for shits and giggles. Probably would find a way to offer me 25 once I brought it in in person. I laugh at everyone who doesn’t know if they want to shit or get off the pot when it comes to what they want to drive

I was just wondering, how much do you think a 2024 civic sport touring manual gearbox can get on the Private Market? Mine is sonic gray with HD spoiler. It only has about 2000 miles on it. I just got an allocation for a possible Integra type S and wanted to know what your thought?

I just got mine for MSRP (32.5), so I doubt you'll see anything over that. Highly recommend pricing it out on KBB. You will get immediate offers to give you and idea and if you like the number, you can sell right there and then. This is how I sold my last car. No hassle. Dealing with private parties SUCKS! Also try carvana and carmax. All easier to deal with than trying to sell on a forum/ebay, etc.

I don't know if it is the same in all states, but there is a major tax savings when trading your car. I see people try to elaborate on their reasoning and try to sound like an experienced consumer but when someone doesn't know about tax implications when buying/selling/trading a car, it's bizarre.

Here's what many people don't know: trading your car in is not the only way to get this tax break (that would be outrageous). You can sell it any way you want and hold on to the bill of sale. Duration likely varies state to state, but in VT, it's good for 90 days. Same exact tax credit you would get by trading the car in directly.

If you're selling your car in order to replace it with something else, the state gives you tax break. So.. say you sold your car for 30k and bought another one for 40k (within appropriate time period.. check your state). You now pay tax only for the 10k difference, not for entire 40k amount.
If you're going private party route, make sure you get a legit bill of sale and have proof of funds received.

I live in VA and went to SC to buy my Platinum White Pearl '23 Civic Sport 6MT hatch back in February and am trading that back in to the same dealer for a '23 Canyon River Blue Accord EX. I'm getting $27400 for my Civic and paying the difference $2755 ($1660 MSRP difference and $1095 Destination & Handling Fees).

So it sounds like I'm just going to pay tax on just the $2755 difference. Is that right?

It does seem to vary state to state. California, for example, does not give you the same break no matter what the value of your trade in is.. have to pay full tax on new car every time.
It looks like VA may be same as Cali. They tax off the gross sales price, which is not affected by trade-in
On the bright side, tax rate is 4.15.. that's a lot better than some other states.

If I wanted to pay over MSRP, I could just go to a dealer and maybe wait a bit. The people trying to gouge the community beveuse they think they’re 6MT makes the car some kind of unicorn are 🤡

Depending on the market and it being a car from the future, 34K may not be unrealistic. I saw a used 2023 Civic Type R yesterday at my local dealer. It has 3,800 miles and they are asking $59,000. Ditto on the tax break when you trade vice sell private party. 30K trade in credit would save me $3,200 in taxes, as Kansas considers that the sales tax is already paid on the car being traded.
