The 11th generation of the Honda Civic is set to begin in 2022 and based on the patent photos that were uncovered from IP Australia, I can’t wait for what Honda has in store!

With that being said, here is what we know about the 2022 Civic so far.

2022 Honda Civic: Price & Sale Date

Honda hasn’t officially announced what the pricing for the 2022 Civic will be. However, customers should expect a slight increase from the current model.

This means we should expect the Civic sedan to have a starting price over $21,755. The same goes for the Civic hatchback costing over $22,955 and the Civic Si costing over $26,155.

Since it’s a 2022 model the new Civic should make its debut sometime in Spring 2021.

2022 Honda Civic Design

Based on the patent photos, the 2022 Civic will not be a complete redesign as some originally thought. Instead, expect a toned down design compared to the current model.

Taking some styling cues from the Accord, the Civic looks a bit longer and the front looks flatter than the current version. The fake vents in the front have been made smaller and the ones in the back have been removed altogether. It also has narrower headlights and new taillights connected by a lightbar.

2022 Honda Civic: Engines & Transmissions

Honda hasn’t made it clear which engines will be offered for the Civic in 2022 Civic. But since it’s more of a continuation than a redesign, we should see the same engine options as the current model.

Which means we should expect the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine as standard with the 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine as an available option.

For the Civic’s transmission the CVT should carry over to the new model. However it’s unclear if the same will happen with the manual transmission. Honda is no longer offering a manual for the Accord and the same thing could happen to the Civic.

2022 Honda Civic: Body Styles

With Honda announcing that they will no longer be making the Civic coupe, there will only be two body styles to choose from, the sedan and hatchback.

2022 Honda Civic: Trim Levels

The Civic sedan and hatchback should have the similar trim levels to the current lineup.

That means customers will likely have a choice between LX, Sport, EX, EX-L, and Sport Touring trims.

For those looking for something sportier, Honda has said that there will be a Si model for 2022. If that isn’t enough performance for you, there will be a new Type R coming that’s rumored to use hybrid technology.

2022 Honda Civic: Production

The 2022 Civic will have a new home for production as Honda is closing its plant in Swindon, England, which notably builds the Civic hatchback and Type R.

Honda has said the Civic hatchback will be built in the United States in Indiana, but they haven’t announced where the Type R will be built. There’s a chance we could see the Type R be built in Indiana as well!
