2022 Honda Civic options of a base 2.0L engine, two 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine configurations, a 1.5-litre Atkinson-cycle paired to an electric propulsion motor (Civic Hybrid) and a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine with front-mounted electric motors for the Type R may happen.

Its my best guess and a calculated one going off what Honda/Acura already does.

Yes, I think the Civic Hybrid will make a return.
Toyota went ahead with the Corolla Hybrid and is seeing reasonable sales.

Why can't Honda?

Then we have the Acura NSX that house up to three electric motors. No way the Type R will get that many but it will no doubt need something from that setup if Type R hybrid rumors are true.

Unless Honda announces new base powertrains I cant imagine anything else being done aside from tuning, some different components and other refinements to improve overall power output and gas mileage.

Just thought I'd update this thread with the confirmation of the carryover engines.

No word on a hybrid though.

Because the other Toyota hybrid is Prius, the ugliest car in the world since Aztek. Honda's hybrid is Insight, and it is already pretty much a Civic hybrid.
