I previously had a 2016 Civic with a CVT. The 2022 Civic CVT is so much smoother and easier to drive. It takes some getting used to but the new CVT acts more like a regular transmission than my previous car.

It's really all about maintenance with Hondas. My wife had a 2016 Civic EX that had the 2.0 litre CVT with 100,000 miles and it ran like new. Those really had the rubber band affect but the new ones are setup so much better that it drives very much like a regular automatic transmission. Honda also makes a great manual transmission, but you will probably have to order one to get it.
