I know how to take clips off rear view mirror and take mirror off just trying to mod where the base goes since honda put a new complicated base in.

Why not just release the ball socket lock ring and retain the original base. While putting the new frameless mirror auto dimming in its place.
You can see the OEM ball socket right there with lock ring arrow pointing to it.
Hopefully this is the right mirror the one you're talking about frameless install manual for it. You can see I've put an arrow on the ball socket should have a a lock ring in it. Thus allowing you to remove the base it comes with and lock it into your OEM base.
