What impact will the new 25% U.S. tariff on goods imported from Canada have on the price of Civic Si’s, which are built in Ontario?
You don't know our clown politicians. Ramping for a trade war that both sides will lose.It won't last long imo. I don't understand why Canada won't secure the border from drugs and people. It doesn't seem like an unreasonable request. I wonder why the pushback from them to do it.
You can be sure that more drugs go from the USA to Canada. As for people? I've never heard anyone complain about any hordes of people pouring across the border from Canada. It won't last long imo. I don't understand why Canada won't secure the border from drugs and people. It doesn't seem like an unreasonable request. I wonder why the pushback from them to do it.
Go back to Twitter noob And please don't ever again comment on anything until you have some grasp of the subject matter. It won't last long imo. yes, i think you've got it.If it lasts, it won’t just be the autos that are built in Canada and Mexico, it will be all cars. Most of the cars built here have components that are built in Canada or Mexico and brought for final assembly.
Oh, and the cars that aren’t affected by this…..those prices will rise too because the manufacturers can. If a RAV4 price jumps by 25%, you bet your bottom dollar everything in that segment will go up too.
Holy crap, the mods did something! You don't know our clown politicians. Ramping for a trade war that both sides will lose.
That being said the notion that fentanyl flows freely from North to South is not accurate. The porous border and ease of access for migrants is, however a very valid concern and we have been letting in way too many people, illegally, for years since Turdeau took office 9 years ago. Similarly to the situation where millions have illegally crossed into your country illegally - however they came with false pretenses (student visas to some fly by night colleges or visitor visas.)
Mainly from India, Pakistan, Haiti, Syria, Afghanistan and the like.
This seems to be more an off topic discussion.
SI prices would be affected and even normal civics/CRVs and almost all cars in the NA market - as parts are made on all sides of the borders. Canada, US, and Mexico.
The real winner is China and Russia who are laughing on the sidelines (10% to China)
there is only 2 so they act when called upon...they arent really roaming aroundHoly crap, the mods did something!
I think it’s all sedans, at least for 22/23 model year. Maybe the new hybrids are built in the states. Are all sedans or just Si made in Canada? VINs that start with 2 are made in Canada, 3 in Mexico, and 1 in America. My hatchback is made in Indiana.

HR-V in Mexico!Sedans and CRVs are assembled in Ontario

Pilot, Odyssey, Passport in Alabama
Type R buyers are in deep water. Dealership guy I know said they're already anticipating price raises as early as the day the tariffs go live (April 2nd).revisiting this, seems like 25% tariffs are live now.
there are some provisions for deducting engines, transmissions etc that are made in the USA in the first place - i think most of Honda's volume engines are made in USA but perhaps it's more split up than I think.
raising Si price will not be Honda's top concern. they hardly sell many, if they sell fewer because it costs 20% more they won't care. it will be: what do i do with my CRV, Pilot, Civic and Accord breadwinners...
honda makes more in America than most japanese automakers. toyota, less so than i thought. and subaru, it turns out, has had to rely more on imports as they grew, meaning their forester and some others totally about 50% of their sales is made in Japan .. and the US assembled ones use Japanese components ..
Sure it will, Honda is much more likely to spread any additional costs across all of their cars rather than nuke the prices of just a few that are made outside of the US. Type R is not the only non-US assembled car they have.Type R buyers are in deep water. Dealership guy I know said they're already anticipating price raises as early as the day the tariffs go live (April 2nd).
I doubt the rest of Hondas lineup will be affected though.
