someone needs to saw off the back of a 11th gen hatch and make this haha
okay, so I actually started thinking about how one would do that a few months ago (not with a serious plan), and it would be quite difficult.
you could chop the hatch for a tailgate, then have an open bed, sure. but really that doesn't improve access at all, because of the sail panels. and then you just have a civic hatch where you never need to worry if honda recalls it for trunk leaks or not, cause it is guaranteed.
going further, you really need a civic where you can chop it like this guy, eliminating the rear seats. problem there is, for a four door car, the front seats extend past the B pillar. all sorts of problems. solvable ones, but still. I've seen some forester pickup conversions which have to deal with that.
i think i would start with a coupe. THAT way, you get the front doors closing at a B pillar further back, and you can try and construct the bed past that point.
reality is, if you keep the civic lines, it is a very poor pickup. if you graft on an S10 bed or something, it looks very questionable. but my preference is the former. if i want a actual pickup .. maverick, for not much coin at all.
