How often are you all getting oil changes on your hybrids? I’ve scheduled my first one and I’m at 6,000 miles. The display shows it’s at 50% life but I’m not waiting until it goes down to 0%. I would have had it done at 5,000 miles but I was on a road trip over the holidays.

I’ve looked in the manual and couldn’t find a recommended mileage to get this done.

I'm currently sitting at ~4500 miles, purchased back in september. I plan to schedule my first oil change at the 5k mark and keep the interval at 4k-5k every time.

Yah, not willing to go that far on non-synthetic oil. I remember when my BMW recommended 15,000 mile oil changes that frequency was later changed to 10,000 because of issues waiting that long. Granted, Honda is far from BMW (thank goodness) but still.

I was wondering if everyone here was following the manual or had a recommended frequency.

Just follow the Maintenance Minder!
Why make up some random maintenance interval when Honda already has designed a sophisticated, engineered method for maintenance needs?

The "recommended mileage to get this done" is when the Maintenance Minder system reaches 15% - 0%.
Some people here: You must change the oil every 3-5k, turbo or not. Break in oil change every 100 miles until 1k. Engines are expensive, oil isn’t.

If you change it per MM, it’s definitely going to grenade right when the warranty expires.

I'd like to know how to get the MM to back off out of my face.

My car ticked over the 1 year mark and the orange MM is going ballistic that I haven't got the oil change.

The car has only 2k miles. It is NOT TIME, you stupid machine.

Mine exploded the second I drove it off the lot for not doing my 5 mile break-in oil change

It is "going ballistic" for a reason.
It calls for an oil change after 1 year even if you have not driven the requisite number of miles.

Pre synthetic days , if anybody here is that old, we did 3K, I would NEVER go over 5 K no matter the claims...and I've seen plenty of oil analysis that says otherwise and I'm crazy and wasteful and it hasn't broke down or whatever and I whatever them right back !

GF and I were getting her Raptor’s tires rotated at Ford last weekend and she has a little more than 60k on her truck. They printed out 60k service. Their “recommendations” totaled north of $1200 lol.

Most of it was nonsense and if you simply go to the owner’s manual, it will tell you what should be done at those intervals.

Maybe $150 worth of actual owner’s manual service was to be done at 60k.

Can't you just reset it using the infotainment screen, or will that not work due to the time lapse?

The OP is asking specifically about the hybrid's oil change interval.

If you plan on keeping the car for many years, it's a good idea to change the oil sooner than the manufacturer's recommended intervals. That's what I've done with all my cars up until my current new Si, which I am planning to keep a while, so I'm changing it every several thousand miles. Maybe not every 5k miles, but definitely not 10k either.

What is your claim based on?
Do you have any sources, research, or data to support this claim?

I put 185K miles on my Honda Accord over 13 years.
Always following the MM system, and usually not changing the oil until it got down to 5%.
Not a single issue with that vehicle.
