Hello all,

Unfortunately, I totaled my 2017 Honda Civic Sport Hatchback with only 39,000 miles a few months ago, have test driven other calls and came back to the Honda Civic; what a great car!. This time, I'm leaning toward a Civic Sedan. Also, this time i want to avoid black. I had some issues with paint peel, scratches and found it hard to keep clean.

Appreciate any recommendations of what is considered better quality paint regarding longer lasting, showing less scratch and also less dirt. There are some feral cats in the area that seem to like to get on cars...ugh... I'll buy a cover for the car, but what a pain of putting it on every single day. Just curious of the preference of Lunar Silver and Meteorite gray metallic.

I have Meteorite gray and ive found that even the smallest rock chips stand out way more on this color than any other ive seen in person

Sorry to hear this. Does any kind of paint protectant help? So you'd pick silver over gray? I imagine the gray isn't as bad as the black, though?

Apparently, i can't edit my original post. I silver that much better than the Gray? I actually prefer the look of the meteorite gray metallic; surely it's better than black, but is silver that much better than gray? Does gray still hide scratches, not fade and resistant to peeling?

I have Lunar Silver on my 2020 HR-V and it lived outside under a tree in the grass/mud yard with multiple neighborhood cats for the first 3 years of ownership and for 1 year inside my garage at my new house. The paint has had no problems, in fact it’s smoother than the Rally Red on my 2024 Civic which is full of orange peel.

Thank you all for your responses. As much as I love the Meteorite Gray, actually more, I do like the Lunar silver also, just not quite as much. However, unfortunately, with feral cats around and Silver apparently being more forgiving of scratches and rock chips, I'll most likely go with the Lunar silver, then. Odd, a Honda employee told me that the meteorite gray would, long term, be better to hold up against paint peeling. well, nothing is perfect. I'm probably more concerned about unnecessary scratches and chips showing than paint peel, at least the first 10 years on a new car, I would think

I went with the Silver Metallic. My Accord coupe was black with tan seats. Black is beautiful; when clean. It shows everything. Hence the Silver. Experiencing some rain over the last couple of days. Up close, yes it's got dirt, water spots and dust but step back a foot or two and it's a lovely shade of silver.

Enjoy

LS accentuates the contrast with the black components like the grill and wheels while MGM is a more homogenous look. While not as monotone as all black the MGM downplays the contrast. I own an MGM and wanted a lighter car which was just not available but the color grew on me. Also agree with other posters that the lighter colors do not show the dirt as readily as the dark colors.

Its Solar Silver in 2025. I just ttraded a 2024 Meteorite Gray with the Grey interior Hatch ST for a Solar Silver 2025 Hatch ST Hybrid. I tried for weeks to find a Meteorite Gray with the same interior as I really liked the two tone effect. But they aren't out there. I prefer the silver anyway but would have liked something to break up the all black interior. The hybrid is strong and a big step up from the St turbo I had. I got the sticker price on the '25 $1,500 below what I paid for the '24.
