This will be the SECOND windshield that a rock has obliterated since getting the car in February 2023... This time it's worse. I had tinted my windows earlier this year. So that will have to be replaced as well. Stupid Honda windshield costs $800+. It's a good thing my deductible is only a measly $500:mad::mad::mad::mad: Just here to rant. Let out your frustrations below.

Which area of the world are you from? I've definitely gotten scratches on my windshield, but chips have always been fewer and farther between - and never when I've driven.

The good o'l New Jersey Parkway. I'm at 60k miles though. So I guess in comparison to miles over time, it makes more sense... but still, I'm pissed

Lol you're right on track with me for mileage, I hit like 30,100 miles at the 1 year mark. Getting a glass replacement would just be an excuse for me to get lexan or plexi :)

You can mitigate the risk, up to a point, by leaving a larger gap to preceding vehicles. But in highly congested roads such as the Garden State Parkway, it is almost inevitable.
Yeah, I do take some precautions after my first windshield replacement. I'm just not lucky I guess. Granted this second windshield lasted longer than the first!

Also from NJ. I've got 2 rock cracks on mine. I sealed them up with windshield repair immediately and it stopped the cracks from spreading any further. It's an eye sore but it'll just get cracked again right after replacement most likely.

Major problem these days (except for glass shops) due to manufacturers using thinner windshields in an effort to save that last ounce of weight. No help are the trucks running with oversized and major positive offset offroad tires with no mud flaps kicking up anything found on the road. And now that winter is here (in the northeast anyway) the sand and associated pebbles and rocks laid down on snowy roads will only add to the problem. Along with the trucks and cars that their owners refuse to clear of snow and ice. Yes I too lost my windshield. Major pia. I second your rant.

In Florida your insurance has to cover the cost of your windshield replacement for free :)
There is no such thing as free (as in beer).
I found a Forbes article after a quick search.

Florida has the 2nd highest auto insurance rate in the country, right behind New York.

I’ve got a windshield with a rock chip plus cracked as well. My wuo

$800 windshield
$200 trim pieces
$200 installation
$400 camera recalibration

…but I need to double check that, seems like it was $1,800 total.

Fortunately the route I take has pretty new roads going down south. North Jersey is horrendous. Still the rocks seem to find me
Anything inside the beltway in DC area is horrendous as well. I once counted the days a full size mattress was leaning against the median barrier on the 395 before being removed... weeks went by. Fortunately I bought my Si after I moved away from DMV to where the roads are much, much better.

I never said insurance wasn't a scam :) (it is)
My rates have gone up about 2x over my last four renewals (six month intervals)
