This is ridiculous.
2021-09-09 : First confirmation of the problem.
2022-11-23 : Investigation starts, ALMOST 14 MONTHS LATER!
2023-07-19 : Worm wheel mold process was revised.
2024-01-26 : Honda receives market quality report for the revised worm wheel mold process.
2024-03-09 : Honda receives market quality report and continued to investigate the issue.
2024-08-20 : Honda’s investigation of more recently returned parts shows things got WORSE.
2024-09-05 : Honda considers safety recall.
2024-09-26 : Honda decides to initiate safety recall.

Are DEI hires designing, investigating, and coming up with "solutions?"
was avoiding responsibility not part of american corporate culture before DEI? surely you are not that basic..

my vin shows no recalls when checked on Honda's site.

curious to see people say the dealer thinks otherwise - Honda usually puts the info in their database before asking people to go check their vins ...
It normally takes them a little bit for the information to be loaded to Honda's site after they make the announcement for a recall. Same thing happened last year with the other recall regarding the EPS.

So is one correct to assume that cars manufactured after the manufacturing date in question are fitted with the new part and/or grease addition?
Good question; I certainly don't know, but it strikes me that my 2024 HB is included in the "Vehicle 3" box on page 1 of the PDF I attached,; i.e,. that 2024s were no longer being produced in the second half of August. I'm OK just to wait and see, am enough of a nerd to periodially plug my VIN into the owner site to check the latest status starting in about a month.

Isn’t there also a recall on the lousy wireless chargers? I wonder if I can knock those out plus my oil change coupon in one trip.
My understanding is that recalls are nominally focused on safety issues. My only experience with recalls were the air bags and faulty ignition switches on a '99 Accord.

Several faults were the subject of TSBs on that ride; e.g., clogged intake manifold runners, and our '15 CRVs had a software update applied to the CVT in 2016.

good to know. i don't feel like this is the type of problem needing preventative treatment. my car only has 1500 miles and the steering feels perfect (yay!), tho i admit i test drove one new civic and I did NOT feel the steering was working quite right. if it ain't broken let's not fix it..yet.

if they have to remove the subframe, it opens up possibility of clunking, later rust, or other problems if the tech happens not to take care. it should be fine of course, but that is just reality. best wait until there is an issue OR before the subframe bolts rust enough that it could be a pain for the workers.

Just checked and my VIN went through. I was greeted with this:

I've never noticed any difference in the steering regardless of traveling speed since owning my Civic. Maybe I'll get it done anyways just incase I do get this "sticky" steering issue later down the road because it's like they say:

That is a lucid, intelligent, well thought-out statement and from my past experience with this situation it is better to get it done regardless.

If your manufacture date is in the window of dates on the NHTSA document, then you can probably feel confident your vehicle will be recalled, irrespective of no recalls currently showing for you.
Hello, silly question. I am in the market for a new 2025 civic (literally weeks away from pulling the trigger). Where would I find the manufacturing date? I tried looking this info up online with no luck. Thanks!

I was wondering what every ones opinion was on my situation. Looking to buy a new 2025 Civic Touring Hybrid in the next few weeks. Am I being a little too prudish to want to wait for a new car with the fix implemented from the factory vs the dealership fixing one they have in their lot? It just seems less risky to have this done in the while being manufactured, but perhaps the fix is easy/low risk (I dont have the best experiences at this dealership in terms of maintenance). Overall my concern is they bugger it up and I am left with annoyances and/or a hefty bill later.

The unfortunate thing is my current car's motor vehicle inspection (MVI) expires this month and I wont be able to pass the next MVI without doing expensive body work.

Just received a notice on my carfax profile about a new recall notice on my 22 civic. Didn't seem to be up on NHTSA website yet. Any know what this is about? I saw a screenshot on reddit claiming TSB for this is 24-119

I got the same BS about my 2024 Touring Civic. How would Carfax know that I own this car? They hack into this forum and find out what I own based on one of my posts. I would ignore it.

Vin number, its an official recall. many owners had struggled dealing for dealers about this issue costing some owners to fork up the money to replace their steering rack until more deaths were reported due to faulty steering racks. if you need to know if yours need to be replaced look for a road that has a nice curve let go of the steering wheel, if it locks up and not center position it after leaving the curve that would be the sticky steering. i dont see this recall calling to replace the whole steering rack.

I have a 2022 Civic Si I bought new and both on NHTSA and Honda Recall page the EPS Steering box recall is NOT SHOWING UP. However the complimentary CARFAX that the local dealership set up it is. I took my VIN to my local dealership and the parts are on back order. As per the announcement Honda Motor Company will start notifying people middle of November. I am guessing they are building all these excess parts for this major recall? I went to a second dealership and same deal. This started as a Service Bulletin to be repaired if local dealership can replicate the problem
(or you can scream loud enough...) and now is a full blown recall. This explains all these class action letters I got in the mail over the past 1 to 2 years... I am sure those had something to do with this becoming a manufacturer recall...

My car is under this recall, I have 14K miles and don't have any steering problems yet. I will wait a while before taking mine in so "they" can get the problems with the fix and parts worked out. Don't want to have an issue with the new "fix" and have to take it in again. There is always a learning/technique curve when implementing a new procedure like this.

Probably will have to remove the steering EPS rack to perform this.

People please wait until Honda notifies you about recalls. No parts or repairs can normally be preformed until that time. This recall is adding grease to the EPS. Symptoms would be slight sticking of the steering wheel when making minor adjustments.
