Hello all! I am new, so I hope I am doing this right. I recently purchased a brand new beautiful boost blue 2024 sport hatchback. I test drove it late in the evening and am kicking myself for not noticing this issue. But It is what it is at this point. I like the way the car drives and I got a pretty good deal on it. I traded a car in and now I am questioning my decision.

Now that I have driven it for 2 or 3 days, particularly during the sunlight/daytime, I am noticing some pretty strong eyestrain in my right eye that lingers after driving it. I noticed that my front windshield, both passenger/driver front and the back quarters are fuyao, but the back door driver/passenger and the hatch are agc. All have Honda logos though. Is this a normal thing to have different vendors on the windows like that. I have read bad things about fuyao even though they clearly make Honda oem stuff. I don’t see any obvious defects other than it just seems everything is just slightly out of focus. I read that some eyes may be sensitive to the solar coating process(?).

Has anyone ever had a problem with eye strain? Is this something I need to let my eyes get used to? I have let the dealer know but I’m not sure they will do anything. There is one area on the passenger front where the tint is bubbled so they are going to need to look at the car anyway. I am already checking my options. New aftermarket glass would mess up all of the great safety features (lane assist, cruise, brake, etc…) New original may have same problem and cost a fortune. Again I should have noticed this sooner and asked about it before purchasing. But that ship has sailed. I am also looking to get my eyes checked as soon as I can. Any thoughts on this???

If you started taking the car apart. Each time you found a part that was manufactured by a certain country. If you took that country's flag and stuck it up on a board. At the end of all of it you would have flags from all over the place. With the supply chain being what it is and has been for a while. You might be surprised how many mixed and matched parts from different manufacturers you find on the vehicle. That water way that is now obstructed in Baltimore due to the Key bridge collapse. That's bound to have an effect on important export for anything auto related too.

If you look hard enough you're going to find parts on that vehicle from China as well. Specifically the Dongfeng factory in Wuhan.

As far as eye strain goes with the windshield. The only suggestions I have would be some sort of glasses used in conjunction with the overhead shade. You may be able to get them to tint the top of the windshield darker or down further. They should be able to leave the center camera area free of tint.

Defects and warping in glass is pretty normal but my sport hatch hasn't had any problems that cause me eye strain. If the warping is really that bad then specifically request that the dealer try to get you pieces that aren't warped, I know my dealership really tried to address every problem I brought up when I bought my car.

There's always the chance that maybe your eyes are going bad too lol

Thanks so much for your reply! It has only been a few days, but the dealer I purchased from seems to be very good as well. They will be looking at some tint imperfections and I am going to have them at least take a look at the windshield. I hope to address these initial things with them and then work with the Honda location closer to my house that kept my previous Acura running great.

I do currently wear glasses that haven’t been updated in a while. I never had a problem with my previous car’s windshield, but it just feels like I am looking through a new pair of lenses with an off prescription.

But I very well could have developed an astigmatism that needs to be addressed. I have an eye appt next Friday. I sooo hope that will solve my issue!

Thanks for the information. I am definitely going to see what an eye doc says about my issue. I will also ask the dealer about the tint. Currently there is no tint strip on the top. Is the shade the thing that was in the trunk that neither I, nor the salesman knew what it was? lol

The sun visor directly above your head😅 sorry I'm probably using the wrong term. They also make an extender you can clip on to that. You can aim it towards the side window as well.

For new glass original or aftermarket should both work you just need a place that will recalibrate the sensors. Would also recommend asking your eye doctor about if your able to full tint your front windshield. I believe some states allow for eye issues. If you do get tinted make sure you get it done professionally. Last place you want tint bubbles is your windshield.

could be defective glass. not unheard of to have glass that isn't perfect. i'd bring it by a good glass shop and see what they think. if they think it's bad, get a quote and bring it to the dealer.

if the windshield is tinted, that is most likely the culprit. That AIR 80 clear tint some people apply to windshields can cause issues with sensitive eyes.

The dealership says that there was no tint applied to the windshield. My brother just came by and I let him drive for a sec to see if he noticed anything. Needless to say, he loves the car and he didn't notice anything strange. He was like, "Dude, don't do anything to this car until you get an eye exam and then go from there." He probably thinks that I am seeing things. LOL. I am going to run it by a glass place that I trust right quick to get an opinion. They have already given me a quote over the phone.

I would definitely get your eyes checked first before doing anything to your car. I have glasses and have an astigmatism and my eyes strain if I don't wear my glasses regularly or are using glasses/sunglasses with an older prescription, which thanks for the reminder as I need to make an appointment myself.

Of course your glass place already gave you a quote for something that more than likely doesn't need to be changed on your car. lol :ROFLMAO:

Just thought I would post back thought this might be helpful. The first image is the front windshield 2022 Civic sport non-touring 2.0 L engine. Second image is side windows last image is hatch. Don't mind the dust just blew out the shop. Now on to video editing for my next post🙂.

Bifocals that's a word I haven't seen in a while. Benjamin Franklin a great inventor never finished high school. Invented bifocals the franklin stove I even heard he once flew a kite with a key on it. They said it was quite the shocking experience. 😁

 I know... The girl I spoke with on the phone was very helpful with the quote (like you said, of course she was). I went ahead and stopped by there to talk with the guy who has done windshield work for me in the past. Extremely trustworthy. He was like, "Nope, that window is perfect. Get your eyes checked. Now, if anything ever happens to the windshield, give me a call..." :). I drove up there and back with some older prescription shades that I had laying around. I never really used them with my previous ride. But with this new glass, I noticed an improvement in my vision in the form of a lot less strain using the shades. Definitely going to an eye doctor this week. Thanks so much for the advice!
