I went to the dealer to try to find it and they had "Ultimate Synthetic" and "Full Synthetic" but they did not have the "Type 2.0". Tried to find it online but the only places I could find it were in Europe and I would have had to pay $70-80 just in shipping cost. What does Honda use for the factory fill? I want an oil high in moly.

Where can I buy the Type 2.0 oil? I know it's not really necessary but I wanted to try it. Or is "ultimate syn" the same thing?

There is no magic 2.0 oil, read your owners manual. Any API SF rated 0w20 full synthetic is perfectly suitable. The factory fill is most likely Idemsu, which is a good oil. The extra moly comes from the assembly lubricant mixing with the oil, that's why Honda wants you to run it at least 3000 miles. The 2.0 could go 5000 on the factory fill as it doesn't have oil/ fuel dilution issues. I suggest Mobil1 EP 0w-20, been using it for years, excellent and easily available. In my Touring Sedan with the 1.5t I use 3000-3500 mi intervals as recommended by my Honda Master-Certified Technician because UOA's show dilution at that interval. I also use the Honda 15400-PLM-A02 filter as it meets Honda's warranty requirements and does have good flow. YMMV

That's what I run the mobile 1 EP 0w-20 except its the high mileage variant.

SP service category with gf-6a API certs. It far exceeds the factory fill that it came with that's only gf-5 certified. That specific mobile one oil is very hard to beat.

Another interesting thing about that filter the OEM oil filter part number reference above by a different member. It has a very specific bypass PSI setting which is hard to find in the aftermarket. They've got choices but they don't have one set at that specific setting. Which is very important for an oil filter often overlooked.

do you know the bypass PSI? was thinking about running a Wix XP filter next time around.

I think it's right around 13 PSI OEM Honda filter.

That Wix filter is like 8-11 psi. I ran into this problem also when thinking about switching out to a different filter. I've always used Wix filters I gave up trying to match that setting though.

Wix is now owned by Mann-Hummel and is no longer the Wix we knew and loved, they are sourced all over and quality varies. NAPA filters likewise. I used Mobil1 filters for years with confidence when they were made by Champion, now made by Purolator. I gave up and got off the filter roulette wheel, most familiar brands have been sold off to conglomerates and made who knows where. The Honda filters are essentially a "Fram in a blue can" and it's a decent filter, US made and Honda warranties their cars with it, good enough for me and my short OCI'S.

People say the Honda filters are trash because they’re made by FRAM, but then again people also say 0w-20 and CVTs are trash
If they were trash, Honda wouldn't use them, also the Honda CVT is known as one of the most reliable in the industry, especially if maintained properly and not abused, I change fluid (only Honda fluids) at 30k intervals, owned 9 of them so far, Zero problems with any of them. 0w20 oils are a result of CAFE requirements, consequently there's a lot of research about them. Secret is to not exceed 5000mi on OCI's, most vehicles specifying 0w20 will use 5W-30 without issues if you are concerned with dilution. No engine was ever harmed by changing oil earlier, lots have been by extended intervals. A direct injection, small displacement Turbocharged engine is generally hard on oil, I change at 3000-3500 mi, prudent if you intend to keep the car. Toptier fuels are also a good idea. As a retired Biomedical Technician, I can tell you with certainty, pro-active maintenance gives better outcomes than reactive maintenance.

On the subject of what people say and differing opinions.

Amen to that people said I'd never amount to nothing. Then everybody hit 20ish the ones that made it alive anyway. The tables shifted lessons learned things like don't listen to people who choose to follow and not lead. Don't be afraid to stand alone outside of the crowd. Most of them are full of it misery loves company. If you do take the time and one catches your ear. Use discernment for pete's sake use discernment. If I could go back and tell the younger me that. I would have went much further instead of blockading myself. People will drag you down if you let them.

I've got a set of principles I live by.

Don't believe everything you hear.

Your creator wants you to use discernment. That's why he gave you that big ol brain. Only you have your best interest at heart. Nobody wants frenemies but we all seem to have them. Too much pride can be detrimental to progress.

Anybody that puts you down ought to take a real long look in the mirror. They put their pants on one leg at a time just like we do. The day they realize they're nothing special is the day they'll start to move forward. It's the only clear path to progress anything else is not fruitful.

You'd be surprised what you can do if you set your mind to it. Remember what one man can do so can another. If he's driven enough to try fail and eventually succeed.

You have a choice you define who you are nobody else. Blaming your environment or someone else will get you nowhere. If anybody's holding you back at that point it's you. After all you're in control of yourself nobody else.

There sure are a lot of things they don't teach in school too. I'm still working on my higher education🤠.

Nowadays differing opinions they don't affect my actions like they once did. However they do strengthen my discernment.

Nobody on BITOG could show me any evidence of engine damage or failures due to using 0w-20 oil, but the discerning folks over there were super certain that 0w-20 was a giant ploy by the automotive industry to ruin engines

BITOG discussions be like
