Hello! I have a meteorite grey sport touring hatch. As of now, I am lowered on H&R Super Sports, which drops the vehicle around 1.4 inches all around. I'm looking to get some wheels and plan on 18x8.5 with a +30 offset.

Questions:

1. how will I know if this setup will flush/semi-flush?

2. Will that size wheel fit fine on a stock tire (235/40/18)?

1. Most threads I've seen where people run 18x8.5 also run, at max, a +35 offset. +30 will poke. +38 I think is the "safe zone", although I'm not sure which one is more flush between the +35 and the +38.

2. Absolutely! The factory wheel is 18x8, so an added .5" may give you a slight stretch, if any noticeable difference at all. But it will mount right up!

One more question, I was looking around certain websites and noticed a number after the sizing which turned out to be the center bore. There were two options I was looking at.

18x8.5 +35 5x114.3 66.6 (custom drilled)
18x8.5 +30 5x114.3 73.1

Does this number matter in terms of fitting on a specific car? I want to go with the +35 offset but I’m not really sure how to interpret that number at the end.

The center bore is the diameter of the very center of the hub. It's pretty much where the cv axle bolts to the steering knuckle. Our center bore size is 64.1 mm, so as long as the wheels you're looking at have a greater bore size than that, you should be fine.

In your examples, both of those should be safe to run as far as the bore size is concerned!
 
If the center bore of the wheel is larger than there should be an adapter ring which will yield a final bore size of 64.1. So aftermarket wheels are either sized for 64.1 or come larger with an adapter ring. The reason is that the wheels are hub-centric.
