Hey guys! I purchased my 22Civic Hatch at the end of last winter so this might've been something I never got to notice. With winter approaching and the temps dropping I've started using heat more often. It seems even on MAX the power output of the vents suck booty. Not to mention it really doesn't get "hot" at all, just warm. I'm starting to worry for when the temps fall toward zero. As it is now it really just barely gets warm in the car so I could only imagine when the freezing temps hit. My 2001 civic BLASTS me with heat and it gets hot FAST. It's kind of weird that a 21 year upgrade yeilds worse results. Should I take it to my dealer?

This is the fastest heat I have gotten after start-up of any car I've owned. I haven't really thought about the amount of flow but the heat level seems good. Sometimes in the shoulder seaons like spring and fall temperatures can feel wonky, not hot enough or cold enough.

I keep my heat settings pretty high as I like heat, and my a/c temps aren't set overly low. I have my heat at 25-27 degrees C, then if it gets too hot I can turn it down . Crank up your temps and see if it helps. If you find the amount of air flow to be low have the dealer check it.

If it really seems off, definitely get it checked. Keep in mind that if you have a 1.5l, you’ve got a very small engine that gets most of its power from the turbo. It can take a while for it to warm up. Even the 2.0l takes a while too though, often upwards of 10-15 minutes to reach operating temperatures. They’re very efficient motors, squeezing out as much as they can with little waste heat.

With that said, you may have an issue with the heater core, which draws heat from the motor. Either the motor isn’t heating up, the fans aren’t reaching the appropriate RPM, or the heater core is faulty. My 2022 Si did not suffer from any issues, but I know exactly what you mean about those old Hondas. My 2000 Civic could melt steel in front of the vents within minutes of my driving.

Hey did you found the solution??? Mine is 2019 has a same issue. If its on high dosenot feel warm.

I'm also noticing that the heat coming out of the vents is never really really hot like virtually every other car I've ever owned. I live in Phoenix, so the typical winter morning is around 40-50° F and the coldest it ever gets is 28° F and that's like once or twice a year.

I drive 26 miles to work, 21 of it on the freeway at 70MPH. With the heat in the HI position and fan full speed, I never get too warm to where I need to turn it down, even after 30 minutes straight. Can't imagine what it's like for folks living in cold states. Only car I've ever owned with a weaker heater was a 68 VW Bug (no heater at all).

No solution … because I guess there’s no issue¿ Nothing was ever wrong with my heater core. Everything else seems fine. Probably just limits of the car. I will mention - incase you’re not aware - what helps is NOT having your civic in eco mode. Eco mode significantly reduces A/C & heat intensity. Hope that helps any bit, lol ;-;

Quite unfortunate indeed. I guess I’m luckier than most because I actually like the cold, I was just concerned that my NEW car had a problem lol! Though, I will mention to you like I did the last guy incase u didn’t know; eco mode significantly reduces your A/C & heat power!

i will try to take it out of eco mode. I checked both hoses coming out of heater core and both are equally hot so , I believe heater core is not a problem. Lets see i have to take it to diagnose it.

thanks

Standard procedure here in cold winters Minnesota has always been to put cardboard between the radiator and condensor to cover 1/2 of the radiator for the winter months (then remove it when spring arrives). Works great to get hot inside heat. I've been doing this on all my cars for 55 years now. On my 2024 Sport Touring the radiator and condensor are so close together I had to unbolt the radiator upper mounting tabs to swing it back slightly to get the cardboard in.

I NEVER use ECO mode. To me, 30MPG+ is excellent and I don't need to improve. Heat still not that great.

I'd understand if it was a complex system, but it's been around for 80 years or more and most cars rock it. Honda underdesigned it and dropped the ball probably due to the climate control BS which I also dislike. All I need is old school rotating knob HOT/COLD and an A/C button.

I have similar problem with 11th generation hybrid sport trim in Romania, Europe. I get the car in 2024 June. When the winter comes, I can feel that: after start the ventilation system works normally but after 20-30 minutes was start to introduce cold air inside. I get the car to dealer for check and he installed 2 sensors inside the car. One next to central 2 vents and another one next to cups holder. Here is start the measurement with ventilation settings auto 23C. After 30 minutes the ventilation starts to introduce cold air and 1st sensor indicates 21C next to vents and the second one 26C next to cups holder. So was clear that system let temperature increase up to 26C and after that consider to cool down inside temperature and start vents 21C (in the same time the vents for rear seats are introducing hot air). I claim that is the issue, temperature was increased to 26C uncontrolled and system decided to cool the air because is to warm inside, dealer claimed that is not a defect but something normal. I’m an engineer and I know that any climate control system have in menus an option for temperature gradient option 1C, 2C and so on. Dealer told that option doesn’t exist and the problem cannot be considered a defect as everything works fine. What should I do, to write Honda owner, to go with car in front of his factory and ask the for a Honda engineer? Did anyone find gradient setup in the menu or the position of air temperature sensor inside?
