If given the option of 18 x 8, which offset between ET35 vs ET45 is the closest to stock here? Also just to confirm the bolt pattern is 5x114.3 correct?
I would do 18x8.5+40 for a flush look. OEM tires work just fine with this size.

18x8+40 is WAY too conservative and would looks awkward imho.

if you’re president on a 8” rim, I would at least do +30 or +35.

18x8 +40 would stick out 10mm further than the stock 18x8 +50, so that definitely wouldn't be conservative.

+30 would be pretty extreme, and you should know what you're getting into if you're planning on something like that. You're going to screw around with steering feel, you could increase torque steer, decrease braking stability. Scrub radius is a real thing, it's not all just about what looks best. If you only care about looks that's fine, but there is a lot more to it than that.

Found a set of brand new RTX Contour (17") today at my Honda dealership. They won’t keep that line anymore so I was able to get them at half-price, that is, at the same price as Honda winter black steel wheels!

Still waiting for my SI next month, but ready for next Winter, LOL!

Somebody should start an aggressive fitment thread, lol. A noob that comes through here will think that 18x9 +40 is a normal fitment. That is an inch further out than stock.

If you want that look it’s fine but that is not what your average person should be putting on their car.

I initially was thinking Enkei but after discovering that all of their wheels under 9” have a convex face I decided to look at other brands. Fitment industries gallery is very good for this. Look at 8.5” RPF1 vs 9” RPF1 and you’ll see what I mean.

If that look doesn’t bother you, 8.5” would be fine but +30 offset is too low. It will increase your scrub radius and could lead to torque steer, weird handling and unstable braking behavior.

I would recommend not going lower than +45 or wider than 8.5” unless you are ready to go down the modified car rabbit hole.

Just the info I was looking for. Thanks!

I was halfway through swapping my wheels for the season and I decided to take some comparison pics. It's a little tricky because the Continentals on the stock wheel have a very rounded sidewall while the OEM Goodyear summers have a square sidewall and a big curb-rash protector. But you can still get a pretty good idea of the change in stance. This fitment is perfect for my needs!

18x8 +50 vs 18x8.5 +45

Looks great and your pictures really do tell the story here. What's the saying function over form? The Si is such a great handling car in stock form-I'd hate to do something which would compromise one of the cars best features.

lol the things folks say on forums is such comedy. Better tires, lighter wheels will never ruin a car. Sounds like a bunch of window shoppers making excuses and comforting one another.

Not entirely sure the context of your post and what/who it's directed at, but IMO there is a fine line for aesthetically pleasing and functional modifications owners can do to their cars. To each his own and all of that, but I've seen slammed, tire-rubbing cars handle like crap at autox's as well as the underdamped sleds on the streets around me. Wheels/tires that stick beyond the fender will likely rub in any spirited driving so the point is to maybe go with a wheel/tire combo which also provides added performance.

Going for that Instagram-perfect stance just requires way too many sacrifices for me. I did a ton of research and concluded that anything less than 45 offset would really start to screw with handling (look up "scrub radius"). Also, something like 9" +35 would have a ton of poke at stock ride height so I'd have to lower it. And that would open up a whole can of worms. I want to keep my ground clearance for road trips and outdoor adventures - bad roads, unpaved roads, snow, etc. I also don't want to deal with a harsher ride, rubbing, or adjusting camber, or going to bigger tires. Basically once you go past 8.5" +45 you start making some serious sacrifices in other areas. Yes, it might look a little cooler, but definitely not worth it for me.

That said, I think it looks pretty mean the way it is. Pretty damn close to flush with the fender, and it has that sweet concave face.
How close were you to zero SR? Think there’s enough room to fit a 18x8.5 +40 without issues? I do plan on lowering her just a little bit down the road

I enjoy being oblivious to these subtle wheel positions relative to the fenders. I am amused by the trucks that stick their wheels out past the fenders, and wonder about the folks who are impressed by this. It’s a big world though.
